Fab Freebie: The (Not) Wedding Week

***This giveaway is no longer accepting entries – see who won below!***

Thanks to random.org’s very arbitrary matchmaking skills, our winner is… Lawren (whose favorite wedding moment was when her cousin’s pocketed dress stored tissues to hand the groom when he teared up during the vows). Congrats!

Hope everyone’s having an awesome Fourth of July. We’re enjoying some family time but wanted to drop in with this week’s giveaway, so here ya go. Thursday marks our 4th wedding anniversary, which typically would make this “Wedding Week” around here. But since there’s not much left of that dead horse to beat (we’ve already shared every last detail about our wedding, honeymoon, traditions, how we met, how we got engaged, and our favorite meaningful momentos), we’re gonna go light on the theme this time around. Don’t get me wrong, the last year has been awesome and we’re planning something sweet to celebrate the beginning of year five (nothing big, but we’ll share whatever we end up doing). Feel free to take a trip down memory lane by checking out a recap of our $4,000 DIY backyard ceremony or browsing old Wedding Week posts from the last three years if you’re feeling sentimental though.

NotWedding Four Years

And since this turned into sort of a “Not” Wedding Week, we figured it was the perfect time to do a giveaway with The Not Wedding. They’re a self-described “killer alternative to a bridal show” where you attend a mock ceremony, sit down dinner, and dance-filled reception all in the name of having fun and checking out vendors. Basically you get to experience music, food, cake (mmmm cake) and other wedding must haves in a real-ish wedding setting. This year’s “big day” is on July 21st and two tickets (which include dinner, drinks, and dessert) are up for grabs this week.

NotWedding Main Pic

But knowing that not everyone can get to Georgia on two weeks notice, The Not Wedding is also hooking the winner up with a $150 gift card to their registry sponsor Bloomingdale’s. Plus, you’ll win a pearl bridal bracelet and hair flower fascinator (in white or ivory) from their accessory sponsor (Fine & Fleurie). Which adds up to over $300 of wedding-tastic swag. Or should I say not wedding-tastic swag? Hmm. Either way… score.

NotWedding Bloom Fine

  • PRIZE: Two tickets to The Not Wedding, a $150 Bloomingdales gift card, plus a bracelet & hair flower from Fine & Fleurie
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “NOT ME!” and…
  • BONUS QUESTION: … tell us your favorite part about a wedding that was NOT yours. Did a particular family member have an especially touching ceremony? Did your best friend cry or laugh at your killer toast? Maybe your college friend simultaneously had you drooling over her location, dress, and decor? Or – be honest – is it just the time your work friend had an awesome open bar?
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, July 6th at 8pm EST
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
  • PRIZE SHIPS: Anywhere in the world!
  • USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday for the announcement of our winners. Good luck…

Note: We weren’t paid or perked to host this giveaway, we just like rewarding our lovely readers. See our Giveaway FAQs page for more info. Pics from The Not Wedding, Bloomingdales and Fine & Fleurie.

    NOT ME!

It was a NYE wedding and they had sparklers at the end of the evening. This is not a good idea for drunk people. Needless to say, we were supposed to light them OUTSIDE, not in the venue. The manager was not happy!

My favorite part of a wedding was at my aunt’s wedding…by the end of the night every single guy in the place from my youngest cousin to my grandfather had their ties tied around their heads!!

My good friend from college just married this spring and her wedding was amaze-balls! (ha! Love Bethenny, too!) The center peices and lighting in the room were straight out of a magazine! The mix between the bright, outdoor ceremony and dim indoor reception was a perfect balance. The open bar helped make it pretty awesome too! :)

Not Me! My favorite part of a wedding was the location my brother and his bride chose for their wedding photos after the wedding and before the reception. We were at an old estate on Long Island, complete with vintage cars etc…. BEAUTIFUL!

I love going to huge, fancy weddings with a guest list of hundreds. It makes me happy to remember our intimate wedding of 29 (including bride and groom) and how much time I was able to spend with everyone that came. Not the 3 minutes per guest that most wedding couple s spend at their reception.

My favorite wedding memory is standing next to my Mom as her Maid of Honor as she married the love of her life. I smile just thinking about it.

Fingers crossed that you pick me. I live in Atlanta and would LOVE to go.

My favorite wedding moment was at my friends’ wedding that had an Elvis impersonator as the reception performer. The bride and groom requested their guests to not make a toast since the reception was really casual, but near the end of the reception “Elvis” made a tearful and adorably sweet toast to the couple. :)

I am going on a limb because we haven’t attended many weddings in recent years past but I have to say that my NOT ME moment was ME! Our wedding song was Beautiful Day by U2 and we cut our cake to the James Bond theme song…neither was expected by both of our families! It helped keep the mood of the wedding light, fun, and airy as we all sat at our reception venue overlooking Narragansett Beach in RI and the beautiful Atlantic!

My favorite Wedding memory belongs to my fiance’s and my friends. They had the most sincere, touching ceremony I’ve ever attended. To see the adoration in Chad’s eye while he watched for Kayla to walk down the aisle was more than most the audience could stand. Their love for each other was so apparent that even the cynics believing. I believe this moment stands out to me the most out of the weddings I’ve attended because you can always throw in more money, think of something that’s never been done or have the best dress but at the end of the reception all you have left are the pictures and the love you share with your newly wed spouse.

I eloped because big weddings freak me out, but my sister’s wedding was an outdoor ceremony and one of the most beautiful weddings ever. My favorite memory – I read a Dr Seuss poem and almost cried in front of all the guests while reciting it! Silly me.

Sarcastically, of course — my favorite was my brother’s wedding, in his now-wife’s church, where the minister’s sermon talked about what? Yeah … about RAPE! At a wedding! Wha-what!? Bridesmaids and groomsmen got a good view of the congregation as we ALL had our jaws drop.
The whole day was a wreck, really, but boy do we sure remember all of it!

My favorite wedding was my Best Friend’s wedding…they did a beach theme complete with a sandcastle cake (which was DELISH), sand dollar and starfish name plates, and we girls (bridesmaids) wore flip flops. It was a blast.
The DJ also did my wedding, and of course he was AWESOME! We danced all night!

My favorite part about my cousins wedding was the timing. They had an outdoor ceremony (and I almost fainted because of the heat), but we could see big clouds rolling in and hear thunder, we managed to get through the ceremony and the fun bridal party pictures and ran inside JUST as it started pouring with thunder and lightning! It was awesome!

My husband was in a wedding last fall and the bride did an AMAZING job with the decor. It was an outdoor wedding and the aisle was scented with lavender. They were married under a big tree, and her father made chandeliers from mason jars to hang from the tree over the bride and groom and the wedding party (the groom’s name is Mason). SO gorgeous.

A friend from work got married and it was absolutely beautiful! They laquered branches to make them glossy and hung crystals from them and they were on all of the tables. Since it was a fall wedding there were orange and red leaves dusting the table under the shiny bare branches and it was stunning! They also had great music and an open bar :D

I loved my friend Ben’s wedding! They had their reception in a backyard facing Lake Macatawa in Holland, MI. The bridal party arrived on a sailboat! Their guestbook was also a large painted tree, and you made your own “leaf” by pressing your finger into green ink and stamping it on a limb, then signing. They had several various sets of vintage plates for the place settings, and different cloth napkins, which turned out to be the favors!
