Aw thanks so much. We’re giddy over here. As for the 11 thing, at 11am EST we’ll be online answering questions over on the Washington post’s blog (we think here): http://live.washingtonpost.com/home-front-0317.html

As for the pics, they scooped us. Haha. It takes us a few days for us to do projects, take pics, and write posts – so they slipped through and snapped photos of things we’ll be sharing in the next few days. Can’t wait!

I love a good gallery wall! My entryway is a lot like this one from Sawdust & Paper Scraps and I must have it!
    http://www.sawdustandpaperscraps.com/2011/01/house-tour-stairs-and-upstairs-hallway.html

But like some others have said, do I buy frames first? Plan it first? Ahh! We still haven’t printed out any wedding pictures since we have about 1,200 and we have seriously 4,000 pictures from our honeymoon in Maui. I know I can fill up a wall easily (nevermind pet pictures and nieces and nephew!) but even choosing pictures is overwhelming at this point! I need a kick in the rear :)

We just took all the frames we already had and made paper templates to see if they would work. It’s pretty easy to see if you need something bigger or smaller or even just more of them once you make templates. Hope it helps!

I’m having an indecision dilemma situation meltdown OMG over what to make of a huge, blank, bleh wall leading up our stairs vs. all our assembled pictures, posters and prints. Can’t wait to see it!! One thing to exmaine–which I know you two do with great gusto–make sure you have enough contrast in the sizes of the frame. Some of them look pretty similar in size. I know you’re using ones you already have, so I would go with it, and then after looking at it up, see where you might remove two and replace with something bold and big, and remove one medium and group two smalls, etc. You gotta get your hierarchy going on!! Of course if you love it, leave it!

I was seeing all the comments about Clara and no touching. Thought I’d chime in (because everyone has an opinion on how YOU should raise YOUR child right?!) :-) I’ve always told my kids “If it’s not yours, don’t touch it” and now that they are 4 & 7 I can say “If it’s not yours….” and they will finish the sentence with “then don’t touch it!” and they promptly remove their hand from whatever it is they aren’t supposed to be touching. It’s about teaching them respect for others and others belongings!

BTW I thought y’all were making some kind of “new art” when I saw the newspaper taped to the wall! HAHA! Great!

AWESOME!!! Love the Clara suggestions. We don’t ‘baby proof’ our house either (of course the glass and chemicals are put away & outlets secured) but our kids were just taught what were toys and what was Mommy/Daddy’s.

Just flipping through some of my old art books and saw the 5 ‘Elements of Art’ and thought ‘boy, these apply to decorating rooms!’

I can’t wait to see how it turns out. I am going to do some salon-style art groupings in my apartment. I have one up so far, but it is a bit of a mess. I had a sudden “I NEED ART ON THE WALLSSSSS.” moment a few hours before my parents were to arrive in December, so I just started hammering nails into the walls and hanging stuff up. I have since moved some things around, but it is still not %100 right. Some of the art is acting as placeholders and needs to be switched out with stuff I have in storage or stuff I will make or paint myself. I am aching to paint the walls, so I will have to fill and sand the 15 or so nail holes and then just do a proper arrangement once I’ve painted the wall.

It looks like you’re holding the papers up with Frog tape to plan the layout. Will you be hammering in a nail or picture hooks into the wall through your paper templates before removing them? That is the method I think will work best of all I have researched.
