Fab Freebie: This Giveaway Sucks

***This giveaway is no longer accepting entries***

Literally- it does. Hear me out for a minute. A couple of weeks ago we posted about our new Bissell vacuum, which virtually swept us off our feet (and actually sucked stuff off our floors). Well, thanks to the magic of the Interweb, that post actually caught the eye of the kind folks over at Bissell and after a few emails back and forth… tah dah! We managed to sweet talk them into a YHL giveaway. So now one lucky reader gets the chance to win their very own Bissell Cleanview Helix Bagless Vacuum Cleaner to help them spruce up every nook and cranny of their casa. Nice, right?

Bissell Cleanview

We’re psyched that Bissell’s helping us share this HEPA-filterin’, 12-amp powerin’, multi-surface settin’, pet hair suckin’ and lightweight cleanin’ love with one of you. And if your house is home to a canine or a feline with a bit more fur than our bald-bellied Burger, this little bonus prize might come in handy too: they’re throwing in a Bissell’s Pet Hair Broom for our big winner as well.

Bissell Pet Broom2

Even if you don’t find yourself sweeping up much pet hair, the broom’s rubber bristles (which attract fur like a magnet) are retractable for your normal sweep jobs. So here’s how you can get your paws on this prize set which- thanks to the broom- technically doesn’t completely suck.

  • PRIZE: A Bissell 82H1 Cleanview Helix Bagless Upright Vacuum Cleaner and Pet Hair Broom
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “CLEAN ME” and…
  • BONUS QUESTION: … tell us about any of your spring cleaning rituals that are already underway in your house (or any that you might be diving into soon). Getting the garden ready? Washing all the windows? Taking us up on our closet cleaning party? Spill it.
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, March 10th at 8pm EST
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
  • PRIZE SHIPS: Home to the world’s best and second-best hockey teams (that’s Canada and the US, fyi)
  • USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday. Good luck!

My Spring Cleaning ritual has begun, much to the chagrin of my Husband. He still doesn’t know that I have been skimming off his pile of (what I call) “junk” because he seems to never go through it! Uh oh. Maybe I have divulged too much =)

I performed the first step of my spring cleaning this weekend by stocking up on Mrs. Meyers products. Usually I just buy the concentrated Clean Day and dilute it for everything but the entire line was on for blow-out prices! I’ve got it all and I can’t wait to use it!

I know it’s spring because the hairballs floating around the house are now larger than our cat. The hairballs are courtesy of our two Newfoundlands who are doing what they call “blowing coat,” which is indeed an accurate description. So my spring cleaning consists of combing dogs nonstop.

My biggest cleaning achievement recently was cleaning all of the junk out of my car and wiping down all of the surfaces. It’s completely refreshed and shows no signs of the gross pittsburgh winter. (for now)

Spring cleaning definitely hasn’t started yet … in Canada, it’s still the dead of winter! (Admittedly it was very nice out this past weekend … but we have to take advantage of those and not spend them indoors cleaning!).

    CLEAN ME!!!

My fiance and I are moving into a new place together (co-habitation here we come), and he has two cats. Being a non-pet owner thus far I have never had to deal with pet hair on my clothes, couch, bed, etc. This vacuum and broom would ease my stress! :)

My spring cleaning ritual includes cleaning out my closet and getting rid of clothes that I haven’t worn in a year or that I didn’t wear much over the winter. I do this at the end of the summer too to prepare for winter!

Our spring cleaning starts with putting away all of the winter clothes and bringing out the summer clothes. Then we organize the closet, wash all of our walls, windows and fans. Then we move outside and prep the flower beds and yard for the summer.

I am always “Spring Cleaning” and trying to go through my stuff and minimize my space on Earth. Just recently I organized my jewelry so that it’s functional and decorative. Mission Accomplished! Next…working on getting rid of mismatched photo albums and categorizing them so that I can switch them over to cute photo boxes. Not so fun :(

CLEAN ME!! Please help me!!! For the sake of my new marriage! Well, just kidding. Things aren’t that desperate… yet. There are certain chores in this world that I just despise, vacuuming being one of them. In splitting the cleaning duties, I always opt out of this one (for my own sanity-sake). This means my husband becomes the default. Every single time he turns the thing on, he complains that it doesn’t work; it doesn’t suck up anything. So while I spend my time cleaing the entire rest of our place, he is vacuuming… the whole time! To complicate matters, my husband and I just purchased a new home. Now we need to get our apartment clean as a whistle before we leave, and we also need to clean our new house before moving in. Can you imagine the vacuuming complaints that are about to transpire?!?!?! I think I may be forced to take on part of this job so he doesn’t go crazy! We definitely need the help of a trusty vacuum, rather than ours that is better at accumulating dust than it is at sucking it up!!! Thanks!

I’ve already started the spring cleaning season by trying to get my vacuum in shape! That usually involves me turning it upside down and trying to use scissors to cut through all the hair that gets caught on the roller underneath. Ironically, it’s not my dog’s hair – it’s all mine! I shed more than a Schnauzer!

I like to go through stacks of papers sitting around and throw away any receipts I no longer need and make sure I’ve completed the projects I meant to get to. Donating clothes I haven’t worn in the last year or two also frees up closet space and lets me re-discover clothes that got buried.

I’ve been doing a lot of what a good friend called “nest-busting” where you go through all of the neglected cabinets, nooks and crannies and give them a good dose of organizing!

This past weekend I found four yet-to-be-unpacked (from our move 4 months ago) boxes in our bathroom cabinets and went to town. We now have 4 hyper-tidy (a la Monica from Friends) cabinets with equally impressively organized drawers. Sigh. It a beautiful sight!

We always purge our closets – especially our clothes and medicine cabinet. Making a goodwill pile for things we no longer wear and cleaning out and disposing of expired cough syrup and vitamins.

And it is time to start thinking garden and yard work! Yippee! I have to scour the garage for all my garden tools – no clue where they’ve wound up after not being in use for months! One of the first things we do in the yard it put down a fresh, new layer of mulch – can’t wait!!
