Fab Freebie: Schoolhouse Rocks

Time to give away more free stuff! And for this one we’re stepping back in time to do so. I’m talking about the truly old-school light fixtures made by Schoolhouse Electric.

Schoolhouseelectricpage

We’ve always been big fans of their products, and even got to see a few fixtures in person when we house crashed Christi and Barrett in Charlotte (check out the pendants above their kitchen island).  Schoolhouse Electric’s collection of pendants, sconces, shades and ceiling-mount lighting are a stylish throwback to several period styles (as well as some modern ones) that are made in true vintage fashion: their glass shades are both hand-blown and hand-painted.

So, on to the freebie part – we’re giving away one Otis 4 ceiling-mount fixture in satin nickel with an modern aqua shade (that’s an $162 value).  Here’s a close-up of the beauty below:

Otisschoolhousepic

To enter, comment on this post with the words “SCHOOL ME” and, for fun, why not tell us your favorite and/or least favorite subject in school while you’re at it (i.e “My favorite was definitely recess, but my least favorite had to be chemistry.“)  As usual, there’s only one entry per e-mail address and, so sorry, but this giveaway is for the lower 48 US states only. We’re accepting entries ’til 8pm EST on Wednesday, Dec 10th and will announce the winner later in the week.

We can’t wait to see this fixture rocking the ceiling in one of your houses soon (you know we’re going to beg for pictures, right?).  So go ahead, comment away!

Got questions about our giveaways? Check out our new Freebie FAQs page.

OMG. That would have to be my favorite piece of theirs. How did you know? And I have just the place for it, right in my foyer. School me, indeed! Thanks, Youngsters, for the pefect giveaway.

My favorite subject was Latin. And my least favorite was pre-calculus. I can’t even imagine how awful post-calculus would have been!

I’d have to say my favorite subject in school was history. I know that bores many people, but I’ve always been fascinated with previous events and times. My least favorite class in school would have to been math. I always did well in those classes, but I definitely didn’t love them.

Favorite subject in high school was Film (hence my B.A. in Film now!) or English, and least favorite, by far, was History, because I was terrible at it. And I was really great at Math but I didn’t particularly enjoy it. My mind just works like that I guess. :-)

    School ME! Love your site!

I have a hard time picking favorites. I loved my American History class in high school because it was really challenging. I also enjoyed Algebra because I was the smartest in the class… I’m a geek, can you tell? I hate geometry and biology. Mainly because I didn’t like the teachers and they didn’t like me.

SCHOOL ME! :) My favorite subjects were the arts – choir, art of any kind, etc. However, my favorite REAL subject was history. My love for history was spawned by an AMAZING teacher who was able to inspire enough enthusiasm for History in high school juniors that many of them at my school took an ELECTIVE history course their senior year of high school! :)
