Fab Freebie: Ankasa For Your Casa

You guys may know of Ankasa’s collection of couture home furnishings which includes hand-embroidered pillows going for more than $300 a pop. But you may not know that one of our favorite online retailers, Ballard Designs, has debuted an exclusive line of Ankasa pillows for less than a third of the price. And thanks to the lovely folks at Ballard, one lucky reader is going to win one of these couture pillows on the house!

ballarddesignsankasacoutourecollage

Each of these three high-end pillows is hand cut and features rich, hand embroidered details that are sure to dress up any seat in your house. You’ve got two 18″ square and a 12″ x 20″ floral throw pillow to choose from. Although with such hard work put into their intricate designs I feel like we should call them “carefully place” pillows, not “throw pillows.”

And while you’re at it, we’d also love to know the most intricate, delicate or complicated thing you’ve ever made with your own two hands. A masterful painting? A mutli-course meal? An extra tall Jenga tower? Oh and in case you don’t know the giveaway drill by now: please limit one entry per e-mail address (our winners are blindly selected using random.org). This prize is available to US residents only. Good luck…

A few years ago I created diy halloween costumes for myself and my boyfriend. We were Red Riding Hood and the Big Bad Wolf. It was a few nights of intense cutting, sewing and gluing, but the final product was something to be proud of!

I just started a beginners sewing class and have been constructing a plain long T-shirt for the past 1.5 months. I’m almost done, and it has got to be the most complicated thing I’ve had to complete. Now I appreciate all those fab designers on Project Runway even more — how do they do it so quickly?!

Hand ’em over! The most intricate thing I’ve ever “made” was a button-tufted slipper chair that I reupholstered in blue silk. Silk is horrible for upholstery, I found out (and feel compelled to tell anyone who’ll listen). However, the chair turned out really pretty, and it would look even prettier with one of these pillows perched on it!

This is a hard question because I’m pretty crafty. :) I think the most intricate thing I have ever made in a knit blanket. It took me about a year to knit 50-60 squares and then I blocked and sewed them together. It was well worth it though!

the first scarf I ever knitted was a labor of love and not the prettiest result, I have to admit.

I decided to stick with something easier this past Holiday season – jewelry. I made strands of freshwater pearl bracelets. So easy, but looked so expensive!
