Breaking Down The New Pad

It’s Friday! Let’s get mathy up in here. By now you know I’m a card carrying facts & figures nerd (here’s Exhibit A and Exhibit B) so when Sherry and I started to notice some unique stats about our new house my throat basically erupted with “LEMMEDOSOMEINFOGRAPHICSPLEEEEEASE.”

Whether she actually was keen on the idea or was just worried that disagreeing would turn me into some beastly werewolf-statistician, this post was born. We always end up loving random time capsule posts like this the most in hindsight (it’s fun to look back at things we probably would have forgotten otherwise, like this, this, this, this, and this). So in the name of some headed-into-the-weekend fun (because, you guessed it, we’re busy painting something) here are the infographicized facts about life in our new house:

NewHouseStats2

What fact struck you the most? Was it Sherry’s creepy birds-under-glass problem? How do they breathe!?

Isn’t that crazy?! We both had 400 square foot apartments in NYC so it just about blew our minds when we measured it.

Well, most are right on par for you guys’ line of work, but what struck me the most is the fact that I don’t think I have ever seen dirty dishes in your sink….have I? It’s pretty cool knowing you are right down to earth with the rest of us…LOL! You have been “de-God’d” of the-house-is-always-spotless from my point of view (this is not a slam on you guys. I think it’s awesome!!!).

Wow, there are so many things that got my attention in this number-fest (I love numbers too!), but what stood out the most-most-most was that a deer actually followed John into the garage???? Whaaaa?? :) If it was me I think I’d be a teensy bit creeped out by that. :)

Oh man, your deer. It reminds me of a time I went for a run and a mama deer crossed the street in front of me, and then shortly after its fawn started following me. I have no idea what mama deer do if they think you’re separating them from their young, so I started yelling and flailing to make the fawn go away. It wouldn’t budge, so I took off like a madwoman, and for a while the baby deer followed. To the casual observer, I looked terrified of a 2-foot tall baby animal. In my mind, by life was absolutely, positively at-risk. Because, you know. It probably was. Or something.

You never know! I had a mama raccoon follow me two blocks, screeching at me, when I ran past her and her babies coming down a tree one time. It’s funny to my friends and family to reenact this one with me now, but at the time I was petrified I’d get bitten and end up with rabies.

It is so interesting to see what is important to whoever designed the house. I mean, that deck is HUGE and those sinks (even the seashells it looks like) are so small. And the decor choices are so 80’s-90’s. It does remind me of my parents house when I was a kid, and makes me proud of my mom for getting into this decade’s decorating style! I wonder if the previous owners just really liked that style or just felt it was too much of an undertaking to redo it all. Regardless, I can’t wait to see what you guys come up with. I think with the right touch this house is going to be so fantastic. and we all know you guys have the right touch.
