Royal Flush
We just had to share this mini makeover for almost no money, especially since you guys really seemed to enjoy reading about Carrie’s swankified Philly apartment. See, while we were working on the living/dining/kitchen area we couldn’t neglect the blindingly white bathroom, so we showed Carrie how spending next to nothing could actually yield a pretty dramatic change in her blank slate of a bathroom. Without further ado, the loo.
Here’s the before picture. We’re not kidding when we said it was a blank slate. White on white was certainly a clean look…
… but we thought it would be cute to tie in some of the green that we added to her living space (along with a pop of red) to liven things up a little:
All it took was some cute collectibles that Carrie already had in her home, a few red blooms for a burst of color, a green hand towel for a few buckaroos, and a leafy Ikea print for more of our spa-like green accent color. Even Carrie’s make-up bag matched our new color scheme, so we dug it out from under the sink and put it on display atop the toilet for another nature inspired dash of green. Gotta love how a few accessories can take a bathroom from stark to sweet.

Wow, srabee’s the picture of positivity today! :) I think it looks a ton better, based on the amount of funds used, which was the point. With more money, of course, it would be 200% better.
When I read that last sentence, I thought it said, “…can take a bathroom from stank to sweet.” Ha!
It looks nice but inpersonal. I prefer bathrooms which look a little less like a hotel bathroom. Where does she keep her toothbrush?

Carrie’s toothbrush is actually in a glass cup on the other side of the sink (it’s so hard to get a wide picture of such a small room) so it unfortunately it was out of frame! We can definitely agree that it’s still a pretty basic looking space, but the price was right!
And Kelly, you had us rolling on the floor with your stank to sweet comment. Hysterical.

I have a medicine cabinet. I keep my all of my things, including toothbrush, in there these days. Thanks Sherry and John :-).
I own that same make-up bag and I did the same thing! I put it on display in my bathroom underneath framed art. The picture is a black and white photograph of snowy trees and an icy stream in a stained green frame.
Have you tried staining in color? I buy unfinished frames from the craft store and lightly stain them with colored stain. It’s not too saturated, just adds a little color interest. I like my art to coordinate with my decor but I get tired of trying to match the actual art. I don’t want it to look too matchy, you know?

We’ve never tried but we’d love to try something in a cool weathered blue-gray stain! We say go for it! Just follow the directions on the can. Fingers crossed…
