One Year Into Living In Our House

This week marked our 1 year anniversary of moving into this house. So to celebrate that milestone (while we work on an office update to share on Monday) we thought we’d drop some infographics up in hizzere. YE-AH, BOY! As an homage to this stat-tastic “before” post, we picked out some fun facts and figures from the last 12 months-ish (and we dropped a preview of our in-progress office project in there for good measure).

1Year 21 Paint Colors

1Year 5 Flooring

5Wallpaperr

1Year Blue Trim

1Year Doors

1Year 4 Ceilings

1Year Kitchen Appliances

1Year Skink

1Year Frames Hung

1Year Overnight Guests

1Year Police Visit

1Year Light Fixtures

1Year Iggy

1Year Office Project

1Year Teddy

For a more all-inclusive rundown of the progress we’ve made over the last year, complete with before & after photos and links to each project, you can check out our (freshly updated!) House Tour page.

Or if you’re in the mood for more Teddy, we just added his 7 week photo. The boy won’t stop growing.

Happy house-iversary! I love your info-graphics! You have come SO far. We actually just celebrated ours first house-iversary last week:
    http://therunuphill.wordpress.com/2014/05/30/not-yet-afters/

You have come farther but we hope to keep up our momentum up as much as our budget will allow. We currently have a basement dweller helping pay the mortgage so we are obviously a bit limited. Today we shared our house layout as it was when we moved in:

do we want to see more Teddy? is that even a question? he might be up for the best dressed baby boy award. that neon polo! fox pants! suspenders! i think some side by side of him and Clara, and then you and Sherry is necessary. i can’t tell who he looks like more? but I can tell you that those arm chubs are the best. (go sherry!)

Been there with the drifting balloon=police visit! Unfortunately, we were on a weekend getaway to a city 4 hours away when our Valentine’s Day balloon decided drift in front of the motion sensor. With the first call we sent the police to check things out. After the second we started wondering what could cause two false alarms and by the third we had determined it was probably the balloon. We had to cut our vacation short since our alarm system can’t be deactivated remotely and we were afraid our neighbors would begin to hate us after five or six false alarms in one day :) Hopefully your post serves as a PSA for other families. Don’t make our mistake!

OMG. The police one is funny since that happened at our house. Of course hubby was away for the night. After I had the police to a sweep of the house to realize it was the balloon. Felt like an idiot.

This post is exactly what I needed today! Things have been hectic as my fiance and I build our dream home. Only bad thing about it is, He lives in Jacksonville,FL and I live in AL. 6 hours apart. Talk about overwhelming whenever its time to pick things out such as paint colors, flooring, and all the other tiny things that makes a house, a home. Y’alls site is the very first place I come to to get ideas. Absolutely love it!

Y’all crack me up! A few comments and a Teddy question!

I now have Flavor Flav’s voice in my head…thanks a lot!!

Love the bandit balloon pic– balloons floating around the house are soo shady! :-)

I was surprised to read you already have 42 frames hung up– now I need to see how many frames you had on that gallery wall in H2!

I can’t wait to see what you all are doing in the office sneak peak pic! So excited!

And lastly, how is Mr Teddy doing — Clara was a pretty calm baby, wouldn’t you say? How do they compare?
My first boy was loud and wanted to be held all the time, and was up every 2 hours to eat until he was 9 – 10 months old. My 2nd was calmer during the day, colicy at night till about 8 weeks old, and then was a good sleeper. Now at 4.5 and 1.5, they are both very busy boys, want to do everything themselves!

Aw thanks Darcy! Teddy is my sweet little man. He’s generally very happy when he’s fed and burped and has a clean diaper and so far he’s a great traveler (he loved our beach trip). Some days he eats every two hours around the clock – he’s growing so fast! – and sometimes he likes to be held a bunch (which I honestly love). He really likes being worn too, so John and I have both been doing that a bunch.

I agree completely — There is no such thing as holding a baby too much — I really wish I would have tried harder on the baby wearing front — the sling I had just seemed so confusing — and now I find out there are so many other options! I really wish I would have done more research! LOL! I’m so happy for you guys — He looks sweet as can be! And of course, as you know, as he gets closer to that 3month mark, his little personality will start to show!! Such fun! Babies are so much work, but so fun!

I had to laugh at the balloon burglar! Every time we get my son a balloon we tie it to his chair in the dinning room. Without fail I forget about he balloon and the next morning when I come down the stairs and it’s still dark I catch a glimpse of it out of the corner of my eye and I think it’s a person and it scares me to death.

Nice Work! I work in HR, and I have always been an advocate for the yearly review with a heavy focus on ‘what was accomplished last year’. It’s too easy to focus on all that needs to be done, and forget to appreciate what’s happened.

Everyone should do this list even if the only person who ever sees it is themselves!

    Congrats!
