An Easy DIY Christmas Card Idea

With family arriving tonight for our first ever Christmas in Richmond, we wanted to be sure we shared our holiday card with you guys first (you know we love ya like family). We couldn’t do this little blog-thang (look at me getting all twangy) without you. And we sincerely appreciate you for dropping in on us.

2011 Petersik Holiday Card

We shot this earlier in the month with the help of a bunch of ribbon snagged on clearance from Michael’s last Christmas (some of which later ended up on our tree). It’s actually two pictures photoshopped together, since getting Clara and Burger to sit still that close to one another without doing something weird (like synchronized diaper sniffing/tail grabbing) is beyond unrealistic. You can actually see a bunch of outtakes over on Young House Life today. Like this one we like to call “The Peeper.”

Holiday Card Hiding

We hope everyone has a fun/joy/family/food/relaxation-filled holiday weekend! And although we figure many of you will be busy with miscellaneous chaos over the upcoming week between Christmas and New Year’s, we’ll still be dropping in with a quick post every day from Monday through Friday for ya (and yes – we hope to have some cabinet priming/painting peeks for you guys with a big reveal sometime around the first week of January if all goes well).

We just found out that we have a big book deadline of January 4th too (the entire final manuscript is due- yikes!!!) so at any point if you’re wondering what we’re up to, you can probably count on us to be holding a paint brush, a laptop, a toddler, a chihuahua, or a cookie covered in sprinkles. And maybe a few of those things at once (let’s find out if I can eat a cookie while priming, shall we?). Happy holidays to every last one of ya!

Update: You can check out all of our favorite holiday decor finds here – many of which are under $15!

Happy Holidays to you guys! I love the card! We had a similar outake for one of our shots on our holiday card with our dog, Murray (you can see it in the link below) but Clara & Burger definitely take the cake as the getting-into-ribbon-double-trouble-duo.

Merry Christmas back at you. Love the card. Clara is so cute! Burger looks less than enthused, though; I would have thought he’d like playing with ribbon too. Hugs to Clara and pettings for Burger!

Burger cracks me UP. Seriously. That face. Omg. (Clara is obviously a huge dose of adorable herself, but, as a non-human parental unit– I have a corgi– I have to mention how much I adore your canine)

This weekend brings me much painting! Turning the whole inside of the second floor of the new house a dark navy blue. (I never would have considered white curtains if it wasn’t for the pics of your first house. I’m excited!)

Merry Christmas, you adorable little family! The card is beautiful, the kitchen is so much fun to watch coming together, and I LOVE the rabbit print you scored at the craft show. See how I worked multiple posts into one comment? Less for me to type, less for you to moderate, and now I have to go get ready for our trip to Richmond in the morning!! Have a wonderful day!

What a gift to find your blog this year! Your enthusiasm and vision have gotten me thinking and re-thinking about my style and what I want my home to be. And this is AFTER 20 years of marriage to a guy who doesn’t like change, so thanks for the encouragement to try a new way. Hey, it’s only paint/ wallboard/ flooring/ tile/ upholstery…. we can CHANGE it if we don’t like it!! Merry Christmas to you and your darling family, covered in **sprinkles**!!

You guys are always so creative :) I love you how you assume that just because it’s Christmas and New Year’s your faithful readers won’t be dropping in on the blog….of course we will!! We wouldn’t miss a single kitchen post that’s for sure! At least I wouldn’t, and I’m assuming most of your readers feel the same way :) Have a wonderful holiday!

PS…soooo excited about the book progress! I can’t wait to order it when it’s finally done and ready for the world to see!

Haha, that’s the one from the kitchen (over the mantel). We just moved it! Got it from Joss and Main a while back but took a while to hang it (and then moved it). It’s the ol’ mirror shuffle going on around here. Like the pillow shuffle that I’m also fond of. Haha.
