    JOSS ME!

We searched 4 sites endlessly day after day – I kept a couple sites open refreshing every hr to see the newly listed homes – and lo and behold, it paid off! We got off work early that day and made an offer that night. Its been a little over a year, we’ve made lots of improvements/changes, and we continue to say how lucky we are. It’s our baby girl’s first home – so it is that much more special.

Luckiest home-improvement moment… when my wife found a sweet chandelier light fixture on the side of the road (in perfect shape), just waiting for the trash truck (or us) to pick it up.

JOSS ME!! I’ll go with the lucky West Elm pendant light in our dining room. I’d been lusting after it for weeks, and we finally decided to splurge on it. As it turns out, my cousin works at WE and was able to purchase the light at 40% off, plus it was already 20% off since they were having a sale. Then she put some more cash toward the light as a belated wedding gift. So in the end, we spent about $27 for a fabulous piece that totally makes the room!

Luckiest thing in my house are the horsehoes over the front door. A tradition I learned from my mom… No matter how many times we moved (12x in 15 years!) there were ALWAYS horshoes over the front door.

Most of my home improvement projects have been UNlucky. But we were lucky in finding our house days before it went on the market and being able to make an offer and get the house right away. Though in retrospect with all of our projects, maybe that was unlucky too…

Joss Me! My luckiest home improvement moment just happened. We wanted to re-do our bathroom which has very old school hexagonal tiles on the floor, but we realized that when we pulled out the vanity, there were no tiles under it. Boo! Then…we cleaned out the garage and found a box of the tiles! Woohoo!!

JOSS ME!! A couple of years ago, I had my eye on a modern IKEA shelving unit, but the problem was that it cost almost $400. I sweet talked the salesperson into calling me when they took the display away, and I scored the whole unit for $1 per piece, so $7 total. It was an amazing deal and it fits perfectly into my boyfriend’s office. I don’t know if I’ll ever get that good a deal again!

We went to check out a cute little apartment with a real estate agent, but when we decided the place was too small and too expensive, the agent took us down the street to a beautiful townhome with much more space that had just been put up for rent that week! We’ve been loving it ever since.

We found our TV cabinet on the street just as it was starting to rain and rescued it! It is a burled veneer from the 1950s, with original handles and casters. I have seen similar TV cabinets at antigue malls for $200-400 and we got ours for FREE! We felt very lucky that day!

I’d say my luckiest home moment was when I found my apartment I lived in previously. It was so close to town & had two bedrooms & a little back patio & front porch & was so cute! I loved that place. I only got to live there a year though… my husband wanted to move closer to the hospital where he works :( I keep trying to make changes to our current place to make me like it more, but I’m not to loving it yet…

We had a ridiculously lucky home adventure. We were on the market for our forever home. While looking, my husband and I kept saying we wished we could just find a house like his grandmothers (which happened to be the house he lived in when we were dating in high school). Wouldn’t you know it – the house across the street from his grandmothers’ goes up for sale. It has the exact same layout and actually even better details. It was even where his grandmother’s best friend lived. We put an offer down immediately and are so happy!
