    JOSS ME!

I think our luckiest moment was when we were house hunting… We had gone back to take a second look at a house I wasn’t 100% in love with, and the real estate agent remembered the house just across the street was for sale too, and within our price range (weird – it hadn’t turned up in any of our searches). When we went across the street to look at that house we knew right away it was the right one, and put an offer in the next day! Good thing something was messed up with the listing online or it probably would have gotten snatched up by someone else!

I picked up a killer 60s style buffet at a yard sale for $20 and my husband and I redid it. We painted it white and stained the top a dark walnut (copied YHL changing table/dresser idea but reversed it!). It came out awesome and we get so many compliments on it. It’s a great conversation piece and looks perfect in our home.

Our luckiest house moment was when we had the privilege to rent a beautiful house in the woods with a fully finished basement AND washer and dryer for a year. Now we’re stuck in a tiny condo that we bought in the height of the bubble, thinking we’d never afford anything else. And we can’t as long as we’re $50k underwater!

our luckiest moment came when we picked out our house to buy. We knew the people renting it out and they had just brought a new house and we really liked it and approached the owners about selling it to us (it was not for sale at the time) and they decided to put it up for sale for us!!!

My husband and I are lucky to have scored a house in a very competitive market for old fixers in Portland, OR. After being beat out by investors paying high prices in cash on other homes and older couple moving into assisted living were kind enough to sell their home to us despite higher offers. Lucky us!!

Luckiest home moment was finding the laminate countertop end finishing kit at my local Lowes 7 months after purchasing my off the shelf countertop at a different store. Additionally, the kit was 90% off!!! It only amounted to ~$10 in savings, but it was a pretty exciting moment.

Probably the luckies home-related thing we’ve encountered was that our home was randomly put back on the market after some time off, and that both realtors worked a ton of magic to get us in it!

We got super lucky with buying our first (and so far only) house. We bought our house at almost the peak of the real estate market in 2001. We were set on the city we wanted, but we were almost priced out from the get go. On our first day out with a real estate agent we saw some pretty yucky house that fit into the middle of our price range. At the time we were not as savvy with renovations so there was no way we could tackle the things these houses would have needed.

The last house of the day was at the top of our price range, but we wanted to see it. The homeowners were present and we had the chance to make some small talk with them. The house had been on the market 3 days and we LOVED it. Hardwood floors, finished basement, and renovated kitchen with Maple cabinets. We immediately wrote a full price offer and waited, and waited, and waited.

We finally got the call the the sellers chose our offer over other over the asking price offers because they liked us when we met. They felt happy knowing they’d entrust the house they loved so much to us.

We’re still here and doing improvements along the way to accommodate our growing family!

I was given a couch by an old boss who didn’t want it because his breast feeding wife didn’t find it comfortable because it was too deep and her legs didn’t touch the ground. Lucky for me it is the most amazing couch and it is tan so it has moved with me to 3 different houses and always goes with the decor :)

This happened yesterday, and it may not be on everyone’s list, but we were about to toss our worn out “vintage” rug that a friends’ family had brought over from Germany in the ’50s. My husband flipped it and it looks aMAzing! So simple, so lucky too.
