Still waiting on a real “lucky” moment. I felt pretty lucky, though, when I installed a new thermostat without electrocuting myself :)

Luckiest home improvement moment: buying a house and finding out months after that we would retroactively qualify for a $7500 tax credit which allowed us to replace our 20 year old air conditioner to a super high efficiency one!

We are in the process of buying our first home…and my luckiest moment was this last Saturday I went to garage sales and SCORED! I got a kitchen table, end table, a couple chairs and a cute chair for my sons room. I have to paint most of the things, but I love them all and was so lucky to find all of it! :)

Lately we’ve been lucky on some color choices for rooms in our house. I guess we learned our lesson when we painted our living room three times before we found a color I liked.

Our luckiest moment was finding our home the first day it was on the market. The power was off and it was night time but thanks to some ultra powerful flashlights we got a good look at our starter, ready to make our mark, house. One amazing realtor and one seller willing to see past the $’s and into putting a young family in their first home later, we got it!!!

Our luckiest moment was when we went to patch a crack in our ceiling that we thought was just normal settling from minor earthquakes. We thankfully decided to have a contractor in to take a look at it, “just in case”. I’m still not sure why it did, but we thankfully caught a major structural defect before it got worse – a slowly (but literally!) collapsing roof/ceiling. I wasn’t feeling very lucky at the moment when we wrote that final check to fix it, but it would’ve been much more expensive, and worse, if we hadn’t caught it then!

My luckiest moment was finding a subdivision that let us buy a house with no money down. There was sweat equity involved….ohhhh the sweat equity. So maybe it wasn’t so lucky. I feel like the sweat equity was probably worth way more than the down payment haha.

My wife and I are huge fans of your site. Already painted one room with your tech. and about to start the next one.

Our luckiest moment was getting our house. It is our first house, and after looking at over 80 houses, we found the house the first day it was listed. We ended up getting it, which was great after loosing two other offers. Long story short, we are happy in our new home and making it even better with your help. We would love to win this contest! Thanks,

    Evan

My luckiest find was spotting a table in the corner of some guy’s garage as I was buying a really neat mid-century modern dresser from him off of Craigslist. My boyfriend’s mom was trying to reclaim the table we had been using, so I asked the guy if would take $50 for it, and he goes “if you take it now, I’ll give it to you for $5.” DEEAL! And it’s so much better looking than the table she wanted back so badly. I win!

Our luckiest home improvement was having my husband’s grandfather (a retired home builder) help us repair our foundation on our first house. It was rotted out and he used an old railroad jack to lift the house. I don’t even want to think how much that would have cost to fix without his help!

    My luckiest house moment:
I rented the most adorable bungalow for two years – all the while wishing and pining away that it was mine. Then – one day my landlord said he wanted to sell the place and did I have any interest. . . . . . regardless to say, that adorable bungalow is now mine!

A lucky streak for us happened on our last move, when we found two of the pieces we wanted from IKEA (a tulip table knock-off and a low bookshelf) on Craigslist in the exact colors and at absolute price steals. Happy campers. =)
