Was on the way to get some reclaimed wood at restore the other day to make a frame, and on the way to the store there was the most perfect frame with a ‘FREE’ sign on the side. Slapped a coat of spray paint on that baby and it’s on my wall. I’d consider that lucky ;)

My luckiest moment came when we didn’t get a house… We had looked at over fifty houses, and I fell in love with one. Looking back, I think I fell in love with the idea of the house (and the idea of having the house hunting finally over!), but some of the rooms were awkward shapes and the neighborhood wasn’t what we were looking for. Negotiations with the owner didn’t pan out, and I was disappointed. However, about a month later, we found the perfect house and are so happy now!

Joss me! My luck came in the form of high quality wood furniture ala Craigslist! We found two wood coffee tables, three side tables and two nightstands for the whole house for under 300 bucks! Most of the pieces are dovetailed too!

My luckiest score was the 1960’s glass door bookcase a stranger gave to me in the donation line at Goodwill. Goodwill wouldn’t take it so I stopped him before he pulled away and not only did he give it to me, he drove it to my house and unloaded it! BONUS: It matched a mid century modern china cabinet I bought a few months prior for $100. I love both pieces, and I recently painted the bookcase white, lined the back with groovy mirror/embossed paper and created a nice little mini bar for my dining room.

So far, my luckiest moment was finding a couch and over-sized chair with ottoman at a garage sale for just $25 for all 3 pieces!! We couldn’t believe it! We threw on some slip covers and they are as good as new. Everyone swears that the couch is the comfiest they’ve ever sat on, and some even prefer it over the guestroom bed when sleeping over!

My husband and I were apartment hunting earlier this year and the first walk through we did happened to be perfect for us. Bonus – our landlord is very chill about things we want to do (he even let us move our new front load washer and dryer in even though he already had a washer and dryer here) but he is also responsible and quick to fix any problems.

    “JOSS ME!!”
I was lucky to have a house-sitting gig 30 mins from my hometown (5 mins from school. Hello gas saver!) for about 6 months. 3 months into things are going smooth, then I get the call: “My wife has fallen ill and need to see the doc. We’ll be home in a week!” OUCH! There goes the month I would have spent searching for the PERFECT space! Overwhelmed and freaking out I called a bunch of friends asking if they knew a space I could get. Long story short, I found the perfect place, one a friend once rented that was on the market, off the market.. but not willing to be rented out again. After much bartering and begging I finally settled into that perfect place 2 days after the house-sitting couple arrived home. LUCK was on my side. Score!
