The luckiest find we had when my husband and I moved in together was a Crate and Barrel dining set off of craig’s list for $300. Barely used, someone was moving cross country and couldn’t take it with them. We looked it up when we got it home and it was almost $1800 brand new! Crazy!

My luckiest was when my friends and I found a FABULOUS apartment, but way out of our price range. Luckily, the landlord liked us so much, he dropped the rent by $150 for us (which may not seem like much, but it was enough).

When we moved into our house, the luckiest moment was discovering random stuff the previous owners left behind! A pretty glass bowl and cheese board in the cupboard. Tiki torches in the garage. Carpet remnants that we used for other projects. Score!

Finding our home was luck! We weren’t going to even go look at it b/c the square footage seemed so small, but the pictures had shown this lovely little garden so I HAD to just go look at the place.
As soon as we walked through the door my husband and I looked at each other and we just knew it was the house.

It was so fortunate that we bought our very small house… it’s easy to clean! Cheaper for utilities and it’s just the right space that keeps our lives super simple.

JOSS ME! I had been searching C-list for a while for a cute buffet/sideboard but was only running into expensive and ugly. On a whim one day, I checked out the site (after 2-3 mos of having given up) and there it was! I white, shabby chic buffet that was the perfect size, perfect price, and nearby! It’s sitting happily in our living room now, and even the hubs likes it. Score and score!

My luckiest house moment has been being able to afford a house so early in life after my parents passed away when i was 11 years old. It really has felt like my parents have been with me through the entire process of looking for a home, purchasing it, and moving in. My dad’s sister was my real estate agent adding to the luck :)

My luckiest homeownership moment: we wanted to buy new construction, but I was afraid we were going to end up divorcing over all the millions of decisions we’d have to make at the design center. Then we found a spec home (already built) and it had everything exactly as we wanted it! Crisis averted!

I work across the street from an upscale, outdoor nursery and they always put stuff out on the street behind the store when something has seen better days. Have picked up ridiculously expensive plants for free and with a little TLC they are thriving!

My luckiest home improvement find is my dad! His brain and garage are full of just about everything I’ve needed to help me fix up my new-old house with my husband. He’s helped us fix our water heater, install our new dishwasher, patch up monstrous holes in the drywall, and totally rip out and renovate our master bath. And he’s always been generous when we’ve needed to borrow/steal everything from nails and strips of scrap wood to tile cutters and entire bathtubs! He is definitely my lucky charm :)

I was lucky enough to inherit my family’s 1920’s radio! I casually mentioned to my mom when they were getting new carpet & all their furniture was uprouted that I would like to have it “someday.” I was completely suprised when she said that my dad (who actually refinished it a few years back) would bring to to my house the following weekend. It’s now proudly displayed in my living room for all to see when you first enter the home.
