My luckiest moment was the day we sold our house after moving into and living in our new house for only 2 months. That meant 1 month of double house payments in a housing recession. Talk about seriously lucky!

We just moved in to our house when we found the dishwasher broken – our luckiest moment was when we scored a new dishwasher at about 50% off since someone had returned it with a broken hinge. We fixed that ourselves!

    JOSS ME (please!)!!!

After graduating from college, I found my first place only to have the owners change their mind at the last minute. The weekend I was supposed to move I ended up finding an even better home with a super unexpected reduced price. I have twice as much space in the same neighborhood, but it’s a lot nicer and safer than the original. Lucky me! Now if only I could furnish it…. :)

I don’t necessarily have a lucky house story. We are still decorating/renovating slowly..but by bit. I am just blessed to have the home that I have even if it’s not perfect.

We bought a house with a list price well over our budget by buying it FSBO and negotiating a super discount. Not to shabby for a couple of 24-year-old-first-time-homebuyers. 20 years later, we’re still in the same house and still haven’t outgrown it!

When we were bidding on our house (which we just bought in April), we didn’t think the seller would come down in price after our second offer, but she came back with a counter-offer of the EXACT highest amount we were able & willing to counter-offer/spend (which would’ve had to be our final bid amount). Our realtor and I were going crazy on the phone at the irony of the situation. Definitely a lucky and exciting moment!

our luckiest house moment was finding it! we tried to buy 4 other homes prior to ours over a 2.5 year period for them to fall thru for various reasons beyond our control. We moved to a new rental, had given up on buying a home for the time being, and BAM! passed it on the very first day it was on the market (and we viewed it with our realtor that night after we realized it was listed within our budget!) We just closed on it this past week, and it was our dream to own! and we found a beautiful old colonial in the perfect little neighborhood within walking distance to the cutest little downtown. the $500 would so help furnish it!

My luckiest moment was when my husband and I were desperately trying to find an apartment/house to rent after moving back to the U.S.. We were prepared and looking at quite small spaces (studios/1 bdrms) due to a tight budget. We were not finding *anything*. THen, somehow… by some miracle.. my husband found a 2 bdrm in the area we loved, withen our budget and squeaky clean. The luck comes the weekend we were moving in we found out that I was pregnant and we would definitely be needing that second bedroom!

Getting my house was a huge stroke of luck. I was already pre-authorized for a certain amount, but I wasn’t having any luck with the houses I had looked at. By chance, my aunt let her best friend know I was looking for a house. My aunt’s friend was trying to sell her mother’s house, but wasn’t having any luck. To make a long story short, the day I looked at it I loved it (it had great bones, but had never been updated since 1968). She allowed me to purchase it/take it off her hands for 15,000.00 less than what it is actually worth!!! Shook hands with her, didn’t use a realtor, and moved in exactly 30 days later!!!

Luckiest home moment was the first time I went to my (now) home when my husband was a bachelor. I’ve been able to put some “girly” touches to the place but it was great walking in the first time and feeling so comfortable because we had the same taste. I know styles are able to be mixed but there’s nothing better than NOT having to compromise :-)

The day we closed on our house, before doing anything else, we took out our brand new razor blades and tore up the 1960’s orange shag carpet that covered both floors of the house. Our house was built in 1908 so we weren’t sure what was underneath, but luckily we found beautiful hardwoods!

I love vintage/retro style and one of my favorite items I own is a hand-me-down vintage kitchen stool (Cosco) that originally came from my Nana. By the time I acquired it the seat was ripped, and wanting to keep it’s vintage look and being not sure of how to get it just to way I want it, I’ve postponed recovering the seat. Fast forward to this past weekend, and I found the stool’s long lost (Harrison Cosco) chair friends at my boyfriend’s Aunt’s house! And we get to inherit them! They originally came from my boyfriend’s grandfather. I love the nostalgia and the vintage feel of them and cannot wait to have the stool recovered to match the chairs! (Too bad Pepere sold the table and 2 other chairs that also matched! But I can’t wait to do more research on Harrison Cosco stuff!)
