    JOSS ME!

My house was already sold to someone else, but literally at the 11th hour (11pm realtor call was the most welcome wake up) the deal fell through and we were there to sweep it up. First house I looked at, only house I loved and in less than a week after going ‘We should start house shopping’ we were signing for it!

We got lucky when we found our house….after looking at dozens of houses, we found one near my mom’s house that was being fixed up a bit, and hadn’t gone on the market yet…and it became ours! Now, two baby boys later, we’re outgrowing our little house.

My luckiest home improvement moment was finding a practically new 7′ pottery barnesque sofa for $150 (originally over $1300) on Craigslist. It had been used in an office waiting room, and the business owner was moving and just wanted it removed quickly. I was happy to assist.

Hubby and I weren’t planning on buying our first home for a few years. Long story short, hubby’s uncle bought some land and built condo’s and sold us one for dirt cheap because we’re family. Not only did we buy our first home at a good price, but it was a brand spankin new one!! What a dream come true!

    “JOSS ME”

This is a borderline terrible story…I made a bid on a foreclosed home in January of 2010. Unfortunately, somebody bid higher and I chalked it up to “everything happens for a reason”. A week later I got a call from the realtor who said, “You got the house”…long pause…then I chime in, “Ugh Chris, you do know this is Amanda right? The house I was interested in was sold last week”. Nope, the other bidder’s financing fell through and the bank went with the next highest bidder instead of sending the house back to auction. It’s been a year and a half and I love the house :)

JOSS ME! Our luckiest home moment was when we decided to “test the waters” in May of 2010, in a horrible housing market, and list our house with a realtor just to see if we’d get any bites. We were wanting to upgrade to something a little bigger before we grew our family (our 2 bedroom, 1 bathroom house was feeling cramped with us and our 1 year old daughter), but we weren’t in any huge rush and we figured if nothing happened after 6 months. We’d take it off the market and re-evaluate. We were shocked when we got an offer from the very first showing! From the time we said, “hey, what if we put the house up for sale?” to the day we moved into our new home was a little less than 4 weeks. What a whirlwind (especially since we hadn’t started looking at new houses when we put ours up for sale. Finding our current home was another lucky moment… we love it!). We’re thankful we were able to move when we did since we have baby girl #2 arriving in just a couple of months!

JOSS ME!! Luckiest moment was with our apartment that my husband and I were able to start renting right before going away for our Wedding. We were both in one bedroom apartments and looking hard for a two bedroom with a convenient move in date of right around our wedding day. After months of searching the perfect two bedroom and the exact location we wanted became available and we were able to move in right before getting married. We’re still steady decorating and continuing to make it OUR home :)

Joss ME! I love a good deal as much as the next person…but seem to have a hard time getting lucky….So my one shining moment happened while looking for a dining room table (it had been a play room for the time being)… I stumbled across a GORGEOUS large 6 seat, black, distressed, plank topped beauty for $150!! They were def trying to get rid of it! I freaked and bought it that second!

Joss Me! My hubby and I were walking our dogs and spotted a house a few blocks down that looked to be vacant. A neighbor came out and told us it was about to be put on the market. So, we called the realtor, listed our house and made and offer contingent on selling ours. Our house sold for full asking price 11 days later! It was meant to be!!!

Luckiest house related moment was getting the chance to buy our house 3 years after we spoke to the owners grandson, telling him we would love to buy his grandmothers house if it ever came for sale. 3 years later he contacted us to tell us she was ready to sell and it never went on the market! She even accepted our offer because we told her we wanted to raise a family there. 30 years and 2 kids later our son is now the proud owner of it. I think the owner would be happy with all that we have done if she were still alive today! We are so thankful for getting the chance to buy it!

Almost 2 years later we are still working away on it and happily crossing items off of our “to-do” list!!
