Our luckiest moment came a week before we were supposed to move into a tiny ‘starter’ apartment – a friend of my father needed a tenant for a much nicer, roomier townhome and offered it to us for the same amount per month as the tiny apartment! We lost the deposit for the apartment, but it’s been worth it – we have much more decorating freedom here than we would’ve in that apartment complex.

My luckiest home improvement moment would have to be the fact that my dad custom made my tv cabinet/credenza for me! It is huge and beautiful and I NEVER would have been able to afford it if I had bought it!! Not to mention, its pretty special and sentimental!

I don’t know if it’s luck or just a really sweet story, but our current home – the first we’ve ever owned – was also the first house-for-sale either of us had ever looked at. We checked out a number of others afterwards, but always came back to this first one that we had initially been so charmed by. It definitely feels like our home, like it was meant to be.

Luckiest home improvement would have to be the handmade table on craigslist for super cheap probably because it was too small for a dining table, but it is PERFECT in my kitchen as extra counter space!

I love this topic! Anyway – My husband and I were trying to buy a house for years but the market where we lived was just too high. We finally decided to move for a job for my husband in a VERY small town. The perk was my parents lived there and could help with our two tiny kids. We were very reluctant to move and sad to leave the city where we met, fell in love and had two beautiful babies. At any rate, we looked at houses for one day from morning until night and the choices were bleak! We were becoming very depressed about the big move. The last house we looked at was perfect! It was everything we wanted, but over our budget. We NEVER thought we would get it. We made an offer for nearly 100k less than they were asking. By some act of destiny (too dramatic?) they accepted it! We have been here a year and are thankful everyday that we are no longer in the rental trap and have a great home for our girls. Pretty lucky!

We also just found a beautiful bed which luckily goes with our mid century dressers and it was also 50% off, and I was lucky enough that the husband picked it up and set it up for us, awww…

My luckiest home moment was when we were buying our first house… we couldn’t afford the asking price and the seller wouldn’t work with us so we thought the deal had fell through and then out of the blue the seller changed their mind and the house was our’s. It was meant to be!

We got lucky finding our dream home. I was an MLS stalker and spotted it the moment it popped up. I immediately called our realtor and asked if we could see it but the seller didn’t want to start showing until after the weekend. Somehow our realtor conveyed how seriously interested we were in the house and was able to get us in that day! Made an offer and it was ours. Additional luck came through when our current home sold within 24 hours for more than asking price!

I got lucky finding my house, it was listed on the MLS in a completely different neighborhood and was very far under priced for the nicer location it actually is in. Long story short, that error is probably the only reason I got the house at the great price that I did.

Our luckiest moment actually was about just getting our house. My husband loved it from the minute he saw it online, and when we went to look at it, he fell even more in love, but there were three other offers already put into the buyer. We moved on and looked at other houses, and this one went forward with a contract. Suddenly, I got an email alert saying it was back on the market, so we immediately went and looked again, and put an offer in. Turns out the buyer thought the fridge, washer, and dryer were included with the house, and was upset enough to back out of the contract when he found out they weren’t. We think it was my MIL working some of her angel magic, so that we could have our perfect home.

When my fiance (at the time — now husband) and I were looking for houses, we did some pre-browsing by driving around looking at houses for sale from our car, so that we could eliminate some that might have fit our criteria on paper, but were not in an area we liked or may have other issues. We eliminated several houses. Then, after our realtor had taken us to see about 55 houses without finding “the one,” we happened to stop at one of the houses that we had originally scratched off the list and fell in love. We’ve been living in that house for a little more than a year now. Pretty lucky we ended up coming back here.

We had three days to refinish all the floors in our newly purchased home, before we would need to move furniture into it and make the process so much more difficult.

We called a floor company recommended by a friend. They came the next day and finished in one day. We later shopped around, they were the cheapest option, too!
