First time we saw our house, we knew it was meant to be. It had a wind chimes with Spanish and Chinese chataters on it. We happen to be a Spanish-Chinese household.
After the first buyer fall though, we beat out 3 other bids and got our house!

JOSS ME! My most recent luckiest moment was Saturday morning at 3 am when 7 inches of rain was trying to find its way into my basement. All my precious stuff was safe in plastic totes and up off the floor! Rain stopped, so did my mini-flood, and all is good! Thanks for the give away!

My husband and I go to settlement on our first home on September 2nd. I’d definitely call finding this house our luckiest moment. We’d previously had a contract on another house…had even gone so far as to have the inspection done, only to have our mortgage guy call us a few weeks before closing to say that he made a mistake and the house wasn’t within the eligible geographic boundaries for the loan we were using.
After that we thought we wouldn’t find anything until a month ago when we found this house! It’s perfect for us, and the other house we had can’t even hold a candle to it!! :) I can’t wait to go to closing…but I’m still paranoid that something is going to go wrong!

The house we bought didn’t fit any of our criteria. We originally wanted a house not on a corner, with a pool, and my husband lobbied against hardwood floors. So of course, our poor agent was surprised when I called her about a house I saw in a perfect location that didn’t have a pool, was on a corner, and had hardwood floors. We had to wait several months for it (it was a foreclosure and apparently the bank wasn’t in a hurry to let it go) but we love it and it’s OURS!

Is it sad that our “luckiest” home improvement item, was finding that the sub floor in our half bath was in fine condition and didn’t need to be replaced.. when you are mid renovation, it’s great to NOT have to replace something!

Our luckiest (& unluckiest) home improvement moment was just over a year ago when a pipe under our slab/foundation burst. It flooded the kitchen, hall bath, hallway, master bedroom, dining room, and play room with water… BUT, after the pipe was fixed we got to start FIXING everything! New wood floors, new tile, finally got rid of the icky wall papered kitchen walls & repainted. Pulled the carpet from the hall & extended the new wood. We LOVE LOVE LOVE our renovations! All were on the ‘someday’ list, but we are glad they got to get done sooner than later. :-) (Though I still wish there was a way we could have gotten the plumber to “need” to drill through the kitchen counter tops… but alas, they are still on our ‘to do’ list. :-)
