Getting our house was lucky: We were the first people to see it the day it went on the market, made an offer 2 hours later, and got it!
Since moving in not quite 7 months ago, our luckiest moment was scoring a brand new 3k fridge for $1,100 thanks to a sale, a military discount, and my awesome bargaining (ok, begging) skills!

We actually had not so great luck inheriting a house but we do love it. My boyfriends amazing manhatten drinking grandmother passed away very suddenly and the family wanted to keep the house so we decided to buy it. It isn’t the house of our dreams but it is absolutely helping us earn some equity to build exactly what we want. In the meantime we are using your blog as inspiration for projects in our current home and our future home :)

I’ve got pretty bad luck (got pooped on by two birds in two weeks last month alone!) so I would say that all of my home improvement joys have come from my own hard work and that of my parents who are tremendous helpers. So, maybe I do have good luck after all because I am INCREDIBLY lucky to have two amazing, handy parents who love to come to Boston on a regular basis and help me paint, garden, and clean.

We converted one of those super old four-pin phone jacks into a modern phone jack. We were AMAZED when it worked (without rewiring) – that was definitely good luck!

Our luckiest home improvement moment was finding a contractor that we could totally trust. He’s done an amazing job remodeling our basement, building kitchen cabinets, and a hundred other jobs around the new house we bought. Even luckier for us, he’s become our friend… it’s nice to make new friends, especially handy ones!

Luckiest home improvement moment was when our shower started leaking into our basement the second day we’d moved into (our very first!) house. My uncle came over and was able to fix it for free! Gotta love a helping hand from the fam.

Our luckiest home experience happen this year! We bought out home 3 years ago and then the recession hit…and our builder went under and the “hood” crumbled! This year we have 4 new neighbors which is a big sign for a growing neighborhood! yay!
