My husband and I have inherited almost every single item in our home. My personal fave is our coffee table (free!) which we painted brick red. I love it so much I am considering repainting our crappy (free again!) dining room table a similarly popping color.

    “JOSS Me ‘Mon!”

not really sure why but I think this phrase should be said with a very authentic Jamaican accent ;-)

And as for a “jossy find” the day i found a small vintage chandelier with turquoise blue crystals was the day I found heaven on earth! *sigh*

Luckiest moment was my not-yet-in-laws giving us some land to put a manufactured home when my future husband and I found out we were pregnant with our first baby.

Our best luck so far is finding the house we’re renting now. We walked through it in about 10 minutes, hopped in the car and called the agent to dibs it immediately. It’s our dream home, hope we never have to leave!

Joss Me! We’ve been pretty lucky because we bought our house two years ago and haven’t had anything crazy happen to it…yet. I know only time will tell before one of the giant trees in our backyard falls, or something breaks :)

JOSS ME! I don’t own the house that has the most wonderful kitchen tile anymore, but that beautiful rough textured turquoise floor tile on the counters, edged by deep sea green travertine always made me happy when I walked in the door. I MISS THAT HOUSE!!!

Since most of my home decor is decorated with antiques, most of my finds are from “good luck”. However, the luckiest find is our dining room table & chairs. My husband and I are obsessed with 1930s-1950s items and before we got married/had an apartment, I was perusing the local antique mall in my hometown. I spotted a perfect 1950s dinette set with yellow chairs and silver starbursts all over the top of the table. It was piled high with dishes and I thought…”nah, can’t be for sale”…until…I spotted the tag. It was 74 bucks for everything!!! It was in very good condition and was made in 1956. I couldn’t believe my eyes and practically ran to the counter to purchase it. It just so happens that when I checked out, there was also a sale; I ended up getting 1 amazing table and 4 great chairs for only $60! At the time, I lived 2 hours away so I had to store it in my parent’s attic for over a year until I actually needed it. I would say it was def. worth the wait

JOSS ME! budgets tight right now (3rd baby due any day!!!) so not a lot of house love going on over here! i think our best score was the bunk bed we got our daughters once we foud out about said new bby, we found one we were coveting (stairs instead of ladder for ex safety and ex drawer storage in stairs and under bunk) which was a bit pricey but worth it till we saw the insane shippin costs! over 200. my husband finally googled it and we found site that had free shipping and actually had a configuration that was even better! we love it and even better so do the girls.

My last apartment had a nicely redone kitchen with way too much bare space in the middle. It needed a table. Or something. So I searched Craigslist for “kitchen” for several days and somehow found a kitchen island with a cabinet, shelves, a drawer, and casters. Good enough. But, it also had:

Cherry-stained wood like the apartment kitchen
Raised panel doors like the apartment kitchen
Brushed-nickel hardware like the apartment kitchen
Granite counter top like the apartment kitchen

I mean, this thing was basically my kitchen’s long lost little brother. The best part? Saw it on the ABC website for $585. But I paid $125.

When we were forced to move by my getting into grad school inconveniently far away, I sold it to my lovely landlady. It would have been cruel to separate them.

I had many luckiest moments in home improv/decoration. Many of them, were found on the street -like a beautiful antique brass peackok that I had no idea what to use for and is intended to use in front of a fireplace. And to find our house, only 2 days it went on the markekt and one day before an open house. My husband called the broker a saturday late afternoon, well more around 7.30pm… and she gladly showed us the house. We boughth it that same night.

JOSS ME! I found this amazing dresser at an antique store that would make a perfect changing table. I didn’t buy it, but couldn’t get it out of my mind…i even dreamed about it. I decided to list my current (Boring) changing table on craigslist and go ahead and buy the coveted dresser. A few days later went back tot eh antique store and it was still there! Bought the new one and sold the old one on the same day….Amazing!

Our luckiest house moment was putting an offer in on our house the day it went on the market, before it had even been listed. We stumbled upon it while we were out doing “neighborhood drive throughs” to see what we liked. Called our realtor and made and offer that day.

It was in foreclosure so we got it for about 100,000 less than it was appraised at. It’s old enough that we get to do fun projects, but has enough updates that it was move in ready.
