My wife and I were out and about with our real estate agent and were totally underwhelmed by the 10 plus houses we had just looked at. We were finished for the day when our agent decided to check out one last house that was not on our list. My wife loved it immediately but I was so tired and over the house hunt that I was not as impressed as her. Fast forward a little, we realize that it was a lucky day after all because we ended up buying the house and love it. I admit, I am not as on my game when I am tired and cranky!

Luckiest home improvement moment was probably finding that the painted-over wall paper in 2 (2!) bedrooms had been so poorly applied that it came right off without any steam/chemicals/whatever – just stripped it gently off the wall with our hands :)

JOSS ME! Recently I have been looking for new kitchen lighting. We have old strip flourescent lights in our kitchen. YUCK! I scored two matching pendants. One smaller one goes over the sink and the other one is huge (we call it the glass liberty bell)goes over the dining table. They were from Restoration Hardware older style, but very modern/vintage. They were only $70 total. Regular price would have been close to $1000! SCORE!!!!

My luckiest homeownership moment came on the heels of my darkest one. I was house hunting & I had found ‘the one’. I had made an offer, but after days of going back & forth with the seller, we could not make a deal. Despondent, I let go of the idea of that house and set out with my realtor on a sunny Spring Friday morning. That’s when I found the REAL ‘the one’! First day on the market & I was the first one to see it. The price was $15K less than the house I was bidding on before! It was bigger & in a neighborhood I really liked. You could have knocked me over with a feather. I made an aggressive offer & she was mine. :)

“JOSS ME!” pretty please! My luckiest moment was snagging my townhouse (that I still live in 15 years later) an hour and a half after the girl put a handmade FSBO sign at the curb. I had been scoping the hood for weeks but couldn’t afford any of the houses. Hers was the smallest floor plan and I could do it! We hit it off so well that against her husband’s wishes (they recently married and he moved into HER house)she took it off the market and held it for me for 4 months while I sold my house and while she turned down numerous higher (and CASH) offers!!!!!!! Theresa! What a girl. She said she loved her house and her neighbors and wanted me to do the same. I have.

JOSS ME!! My latest purchase smile was this weekend. My mom just bought a MAJOR fixer-upper and I moved into our first home about 2 years ago so we are always looking for SUPER deals, and we totally scored this weekend. We bought $600 worth of light fixtures from Lowes all on clearance, spending $80!! Yeah baby! We also scored a new fancy front door for a friend which was marked down from $1200 to $250. YES!! Tip:if you ask a supervisor if they can discount the clearance anymore…they can!…I never knew that until now.
