we just got an amaaaazing deal on a new furnace. First we were excited to gtt it at cost, no labor. Then we figured out that we got a $500 rebate for getting a high efficiency furnace. THEN we were told the furnace we were getting was on sale from $1,200 to $900! So after the rebate we got our new furnace for just $400!!! Such a blessing since it was an unexpected project! We found it needed replacing while putting in central AC.

Like many others, we also found our home the day before it went on the market. We had been looking for months and found nothing that was really suitable, when our agent called us after attending a private “agent” showing. He said it was perfect, and he was right. More character than we’d ever hoped for, all of the things we wanted in a home, and not even at the top of our price range. We put in our offer before the listing even went public, and closed on our house just a month later. We’re still happy here!

JOSS ME! Our biggest score was our stainless steel fridge, grabbed at over 50% off from the Sears scratch & dent outlet, due to a small dent on the side – which is against the wall and not even visible anyway!

JOSS ME! Getting the house that we are in right now. We shopped for a year to find what we were looking for in the area we liked. We made an offer on this place and found out our offer was accepted even though there was another offer on the house.

After shopping for a dresser for weeks on end for our baby’s room, we finally decided to go with a more affordable cube storage system. Wouldn’t you know that every single piece of it was on sale when we finally decided to buy?! It was fate.

I was lucky enough to be the recipient of my grandmother’s bedroom set. A simple change in the hardware and not only do we have gorgeous furniture – but the largest dresser will be used in our baby’s room! We are painting it dark aqua! Once the nursery is done, photos will be sent!

My lucky house moment—getting our first (and current) house. We had bid and lost on two houses already and I was on the road when my husband saw this one. He said it was THE one, and without seeing it I told him to go for it. He bid, we got it, we danced. I feel lucky every day waking up in this house.

Hmmm…my luckiest moment hasn’t happened yet. I thought we were lucky to get the house that we are renting currently, but now that we have been there for 3 years, I am pretty close to hating it! The hubby and I are saving up to buy a house in the next year or so… So I think we must be saving our luck for that event!

(Side note: Just noticed that little smiley at the bottom of your site, uber cute.)

We were lucky that the offers we made on the first two houses we fell in love with didn’t work out, even though we were heartbroken at the time. We couldn’t imagine being in any other house or location than we are now. I guess the third time’s the charm! =)

Oh baby there have been plenty of joss moments for my hubby and I…

Personally, i think the jossiest would be the location of our house. we have to live within the city limits (for our jobs) which can be a real challenge for two country mice. BUT, our little abode is surrounded by trees, on the end of one dead end road is OUR little private dead end road… with all the wildlife we can handle.

it was love at first sight…

thanks so much (hope i win!) :)

Joss Me! RC Wiley was having a clearance sale. They had too many mirrors so they said all were on sale for $25. Most of the mirrors were just simple ones to put above a dresser, but we found one that sold for over $800 if ornantely carved wood, and just beautiful. Everyone who sees it comments on it. Score! Even the sales lady couldn’t beleive we were getting the mirror for that amount. I guess they didn’t really they had that on ein the bunch.

My parents have hooked us up with some amazing pieces. I have this beautiful 1902 tea chest (a big one that they used to ship tea in) that every person who walks into my house covets. I also have this table that my dad made from an antique work table topped with a gorgeous butcher block. So, yeah, my parents are awesome, they have fantastic taste, and they love to give me stuff. I’d say that’s more than just a little bit lucky.

We recently moved into my mother-in-law’s old house. She was born and raised here and she raised her own children here. After she moved out, my brother and sister in law lived in the house for nearly 20 years. We recently decided to buy it from my husband’s mom and fixing it up has been a blast! There’s something really sweet and sentimental about living in a house that has been in the family for so long.
