JOSS ME!! I have had some luck with Craiglist – I have a great entryway table I snagged. But my favorite place to find treasures is HomeGoods clearance section. I always feel so lucky to find something I have been eyeing on clearance :)

I got lucky when I started doing a cheap refresh project on our master bathroom.
I scored two awesome modern 3 light brushed nickel fixtures from the clearance section at Home depot for 26 beans each. As well as two large mirrors for over the sinks for 22 beans from the Homegoods clearance section. They Didn’t match but after a few coats of paint they look awesome.

Our luckiest home improvement moment was buying our current home. It was just right for us, but lacked off street parking but we decided to go for it anyways… We later tried to get a permit to install a parking pad and it was denied, but a neighbor sold us his garage!!! Sure it was falling apart, but we fixed and now we have the perfect house and a 2-car garage in the city!!!

Oddly enough I just came across the cutest little picture, as an inspiration for an office, on the packaging for a Trader Joe’s dark chocolate bar!! It’s whimsical and slightly surreal and the best part is it’s 4 inches by 3 inches. Can’t wait to find the perfect little frame for it!

The plans to buy our first home fell through after a very lengthy battle with a contractor. We ended up having to get a different house, but by the time we made the purchase, interest rates fell nearly 1% saving us a bundle!

Joss me! Luckiest moment was probably arriving at my step-mom’s garage sale when she and my dad were moving out of state, and seeing my favorite dresser set there on the lawn. 1940s Asian-inspired solid wood set – utterly fantastic and now living in my house!

More Divine Intervention than luck, I believe, but we found a great home meeting most of our requirements (and the list is plentiful when you have 7 kiddos) that had only been on the market 4 days. They accepted our offer and then we turned around and sold ours in just a couple of weeks…didn’t even list it, no sign in the yard, no updates or staging or anything. Good old word-of-mouth and one quick listing on Mr. Craig and we had a number of calls and boom. Gone. And closed in 3 weeks and moved in that time which included an Easter celebration, a weekend away, and a First Communion celebration. Seriously, EVERYTHING just fell into place!

Joss Me! I just bought a house and happened upon it before it went to a realtor, so it was a quick seller to buyer sell instead of going through the additional craziness of a realtor. I’d say that’s pretty lucky!

I found allll of my bedroom furniture either on the side of the road (on neighborhood bulk trash day!) or in an estate sale. My favorite find is a fabulous retro chair that I reupholstered (not myself – I wish, but I DO aim to try that someday) in a great, large-print houndstooth. It’s a fan fave all around. Super comfy too!

The luckiest thing that has happened to us recently is the fact that we DIDN’T buy a beautiful turn of the century home a few months ago. See, I live in Minot, North Dakota, where we had epic flooding this past month. The house we were going to buy is now a shell of itself, all woodwork, built-ins, and orginal hardwood floors ripped out and sitting on the curb. Our apartment was not spared either, we live on a second floor apartment and we got about 4 feet of water. This would be so nice to have to replace so much of what we lost, which is a lot.
