One of my luckiest moments was coming home for a quick lunch and finding the across-the-street landlord threw out some ugly red wicker chairs. Spray painting them white, finding a cute $12 wicker table and $$$ cushions made a beautiful addition to our back patio.

I don’t have much luck when it comes to home improvements. If it can go wrong, it usually does. However, seeing your spraypainting adventures inspired me to spray paint some old vent covers that were custom sized and thus saved me mucho bucks! I guess it was lucky I was reading your blog that day :)

We found a 4 piece leather couch set in the EXACT PERFECT color (sort of a weird rust/cinnamon color we couldn’t find in any store) on Craigslist a while back. Hardly ever sat on, for only $500 bucks! This was over a year ago, and we still get giggly about our amazing find.

I found our first home the second it went on the market via Mr Lister one morning at work. I was able to get the contact information of the owner, who then said it wasn’t supposed to be listed yet and he took it off the market. But since I had already contacted him, he allowed me to view the house and by the time it officially went on the market, we already had a contract!

I just love this armor unit that was given to my mother in law from a friend then passed on to us. It has beautiful designs on the door that open up for you to display things and a nice size drawer to hide things. It has great wood working detail and more. Just gorgeous.

I think my luckiest find was at a yard sale last summer. My husband and I are newly married and had recently moved into our first house from an apartment. It’s a rental but still exciting! I wasn’t looking for anything inparticular…just furniture in general to fill space! I found an amazing antique vanity at a STEAL of a price. After searching on the internet I felt comfortable enough to refinish it myself and it has made a great addition to our bedroom!

I’d have to say my luckiest home moment to date was being able to get out of our old lease and move into a newer, bigger townhouse that costs less and is in a better area. We just moved two months ago and since we have way more space, we need to work on furnishing it. A shopping spree at Joss & Main would definitely help.

Years ago, I picked up a Danish teak Hans C. Andersen side table at a yard sale for ten bucks. I loved it, but it didn’t really go with my traditional decor. After I started spending more time at boyfriend’s house, I pulled out the piece and offered it to him to go between a pair of Danish teak Z chairs. Perfect fit! He loves it so much that he’s trying to score another one on ebay, but they sell for more than $250.

JOSS ME! We were completely lucky to view the home across from my boyfriend’s best friend of 25+ years the weekend after it went on the market- submitted an offer that Monday, had to re-submit highest and best due to the competition (there were 9 showings that day) and found out our second offer was accepted Tuesday. It was the happiest moment of my life (so far!). Lots of happy tears! We were so lucky and 16 months later after the purchase and renovation, I couldn’t be more excited about it~!

When my husband and I were looking for our first house, we had a very limited budget. We had been looking for what seemed like forever, and everything we found was both too expensive and in such bad shape that it it was unliveable. One day we came across a house that was 10 times better than the others and at the bottom of the price range- we made an offer that day and have loved our house ever since!
