JOSS ME! My luckiest moment was find a diamond in the rough while househunting. I scored a forclosure at bottom of the market price and have been amazed at what a little spackle and paint have done to transform the place. I have enjoyed your blog and have gotten alot of great ideas for renovating. Thanks!

    JOSS ME!!

My lucky moment came when I was painting my house.

One of my favorite things to do is shop for what I call “oops” cans of paint in the discount section at hardware stores. With this said, I had collected quite a few cans as well as the paint I had obtained specifically for my house. I had an accent wall in my kitchen I had painted ochre, which was great until I painted the rest of the surrounding rooms. With the 12 ft ceilings I thought it would be great to do a mural of silohoutted trees. I at once went to research ideas on the internet and came across a painting at art.com of birch trees. My LUCKY moment came when I looked at this painting, looked at the pile of eclectic paint colors I had collected and found they were the same. Instantly I knew what I had to paint in my kitchen. It was kismet!

JOSS ME!!! Our luckiest house moment was when we were buying our house – we were in love with the online photos of it and were hoping to put in an offer after we toured it, but we knew the offer would be lower than asking price. My husband toured the house while I was out of town and knew it was perfect for us. Before I got back in town, the price dropped $8500!!! I knew right then we had to put in an offer before someone else snatched up our house so we did (without me ever seeing it in person) and never looked back :)

JOSS ME! I’ve had a few lucky home moments/home improvement moments. But the best was definitely when we found a great first place, put in an offer and then our great city was hit by a major snowstorm. Blizzard of 2010 = great time to buy a place/no people to view the condo and compete with us. Thanks Mother Nature!

Our luckiest moment in buying a home is that the home came with lots of furniture. Dated furniture, but completely awesome, solid wood furniture and a few full beds. We’ve sold a couple we didn’t need, gave a couple more away to needy friends and are planning to updating the rest to something fun and fresh. Paint, here we come!

JOSS ME! My lucky find was what I believe to be an old stereo? It was at an estate sale with half the doors hanging off. After looking and messing with it a minute I saw it was easily fixable. It is now at my home after only paying $15 and I hope to make it a wine bar. I can’t decide what color to paint it- right now it is a “70’s” olive green. But I can’t wait to see how it will turn out!!

One of our luckiest moments has been the fact that everything in our nursery was either given to us or free. For example: Our dresser is priced at over three hundred dollars but it was dropped off the truck when it was being moved into the store. My husbands grandpa put it back together and it looks brand new. Nothing beats a free piece of furniture.
