Since the early days of YHL, we’ve been buddies with the foursome over at One Project Closer. Ethan, Fred, and their wives Jocie and Kim dish up tutorials, tool reviews and decor posts to help us all get (say it with me) one project closer to our dream house. Recently they’ve launched a series of “Pro-Follows” where the boys tag along with professional contractors to document big projects like building a deck (which we may be referencing soon ourselves). But if that makes you break into a sweat, perhaps their new The Better Half section (where the ladies tackle design and craft projects) is more your speed. We redid our kitchen a few years ago, and it’s been great, but we really need new flooring. Unfortunately, that leads to a whole string of questions about the rest of the house because of the open floor plan, and the idea of moving all of our stuff to get that done makes me feel ill.

Get me closer! I want to finish up my kitchen remodel! We have painted the cabinets, taken down wallpaper and painted walls, got new counter tops, are getting ready to lay a laminate floor and tile the back splash. I still need to put up some open shelving and replace the light above the sink as well!

GET ME CLOSER to renovating our only full bathroom! EVERYTHING needs to be replaced (tub, shower tile, floor tile, toilet, sink) and we need a ventilation fan installed to stop water lines from streaking the walls! With a baby due in 11 weeks, we could really use this!

Get Me Closer! I have so many projects that have to be done around my house, beginning with fixing the duct work and insulation. Then we have to build a chicken coop. After that is the flooring in my bedroom–it’s over 20 years old and has to be replaced. Following that would be the kitchen wall–a leak in the roof has damaged the plaster on one wall. Add to that window replacement, painting, landscaping, and the list goes on and on. . . .
