I’m currently finishing up improvements to the living room… moldings and window frames painted, cellular shades installed, and entertainment center in place. Now I need to order the new couch (from Crate & Barrel!) and paint the ugly brick fireplace.

Awesome giveaway! Thank you! We just finished up extending our back porch just in time for the gorgeous fall Southern weather. Next up is a project that’s kinda scary…removing our stained builder grade carpet (stains courtesy of kids and dogs) and painting our concrete. Would love hardwood floors but that’s not in the budget (darn you, Dave Ramsey!).

What’s not on the to-do list! We’ve been renovating our home ourselves since we moved in almost three years ago and we’re making progress but still lots to do. Our goal for this fall is to fix up/paint the exterior and landscape. It really needs it. But there’s still lots to do before we can do that, so I have my doubts.

Projects, huh? Well, we’re actually just finishing a big project in our basement – a.k.a. “The Adventure of Building a Guest Bedroom for Under $3500” – all in preparation for the arrival of baby #1. We’re guessing that after that and the nursery are complete, and we’ve settled into new-parenting life, we’ll be fairly wiped out. I do, however, have thoughts about creating attractive storage in our living room as I can’t stand the sight of toys overtaking the most used room in the house. But we’ll see . . . that may turn into a spring project!
