Fab Freebie: Talk About Home Improvement

*** This contest is no longer accepting entries – see who won below! ***

Random.org got his random on and selected our winner as… Tracey @ Tropical Happiness (who just moved into a new house last week so she has lots of shopping to do). Congrats! For everyone else, keep that chin up – you can still enter the Hometalk $500 Lowe’s gift card giveaway through Sunday.

You may already know that Hometalk is a community of home improvement experts (including some familiar HGTV faces) and fellower DIYers sharing home and garden projects, advice, and even contractors. And for this week’s giveaway they’re majorly hooking someone up… to the tune of a $500 gift card to Crate & Barrel!

HomeTalkGiveaway1

And as if that weren’t enough, over on their site they’re also giving away another 500 bucks (this time to Lowe’s). So to get in on that little bonus freebie, you can answer their quick poll question (about what outdoor summer project you still need to tackle – btw, our answer is C), sign up for a free account, and then cross your fingers really hard. Of course you can just enter for the Crate & Barrel gift card by commenting over here (or the Lowe’s card over there) so there’s no pressure to do both.

HomeTalkGiveaway2

  • PRIZE: A $500 gift card to Crate & Barrel courtesy of Hometalk
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “TALK TO ME!” and…
  • BONUS QUESTION: … since Hometalk is polling folks about their summer projects, let’s cover your fall & winter plans here. What’s on your to-tackle list later this year? Maybe updating your fireplace just in time for cooler weather? Or redoing your bedroom for those cold winter nights? Or are you just itching to decorate for Halloween and Christmas already?
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, August 17th at 8pm EST
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
  • PRIZE SHIPS: The 50 United States
  • USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday morning for the announcement of our winner. Good luck…

Note: We weren’t paid or perked for hosting this giveaway, we just do ‘em to thank you awesome folks for stopping in. See our Giveaway FAQs page for more info. Pics courtesy of Hometalk.

I suppose this summer’s projects will bleed in to the fall/winter months and I will still be painting come March! Atleast it feels that way. I do need to do some major work on our family/tv room, though.

We have a master bathroom makeover in our near future. We are on a *tight* budget, so updates will include: restaining the vanity and adding new knobs to make it feel new, repainting the walls, new light fixture and some hooks/shelves for better storage. Can’t wait!

    TALK TO ME!!!!

Well, my boyfriend and I moved in together in March. I was out of work for months so we could not afford anything to spruce up our new apartment. I just started to work again so we will be able to do a few more things. I want to paint a focus wall in some bold color. I want to get a rug for in front of our couch. I want to get matching bedside tables for our bed. The mismatched awful makeshift ones we have are driving me batty. I want to hang up pictures and decorations on the walls. The list will get longer I am sure!!

I am not planning a huge remodel, I just sold my dream home so my husband could go back and get his JDMBA so I am looking for ways to use space creatively (I went from 3900 sqft to 1500). Also I live in Utah and we are getting our FIRST Crate & Barrel this fall…I will love to stop paying shipping costs!

Since I’ll likely still be working on the exterior as we head into fall, during the winter I hope to finish the master bath re-design. Repairs to the exterior prompted matching the paint, matching the paint led to a whole new color scheme, which led to painting the house. You know how it goes! Once I got started, there was no going back to the bathroom remodel – at least for now!

TALK TO ME!!! I will be moving to a new city AND state in just a few short weeks. My big to-do home improvement will be several things: a) downsizing so we don’t have to trek so much stuff across the country, b) DIY our master bedroom headboard, c) DIY a stemware hutch by repurposing a wall shelf my dad made long ago, and d) last but not least put together my baby boy’s Big Boy room *snif, sniff*. I am also excited about a few holiday decorating projects I have found on Pinterest. Thanks for the 411 on the Lowes opportunity. You guys, or really I should say “y’all” because I am moving back home to Texas, are the bomb diggity.

Since it’s very hot in Arizona right now, I’m eager for it to cool down so I can start working on the backyard. We practically have nothing laid out except for rocks so I’d love to do something, maybe add grass in. As for the inside of the house, I’d love to rip out the flooring and put hardwood floor in and paint the guest room.
