Fab Freebie: Sunny Side Up

***This giveaway is no longer accepting entries.***

If you’re a Richmonder, you might’ve already deciphered that the Sunny mentioned in this morning’s Reader Redesign is none other than local paint heroine Sunny Goode. Heck, even non-locals with a good memory might have picked up on it since Sunny’s name has popped up more than once on YHL, like when we house crashed this Domino-featured home that sported Sunny’s signature stenciled paint treatment on her floors:

Sunny Give Katie Floor

Or when we dropped in on her store, Sunny’s Goodtime Paints, a couple of years ago:

Sunny Give Store 2

Sunny Give Store

Plus we even got to sneak a peek of one of her newest creations: the floor at the soon-to-be open children’s consignment boutique called Clover located in Richmond’s Carytown district. Sidenote: we’ll be showcasing even more inspiration from this stunning shop soon because it’s chock full of awesome (and doable!) ideas.

Sunny Give Clover Floor

But in case you’re still in the dark about just how talented and inspiring Sunny is, allow us to shine a little light on the subject. Sunny serves up a boatload of tools and inspiration to make your next paint job work a little harder when it comes to creating a more unique, playful, personal, and beautiful space. We know her best for her stencils, color washes, and stains- which can bring some much-needed pattern to a blank floor or wall. But she’s also got monograms, decals, and even two books (Paint Can! and its kid-tastic sidekick).

Sunny Give Product Four

So because Sunny has so much fun stuff to dish out, we’re excited to announce that TWO lucky winners will score an $100 shopping spree. So you have the chance to snag whatever goodies catch your eye on her site the most! And the rest of you will be able to cash in on a pretty sweet discount too (stay tuned for those details on Thurs). But enough jibber-jabber. Here are all the deets:

  • PRIZE: $100 towards anything from Sunny’s Goodtime Paints
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “SHINE ON ME!” and…
  • BONUS QUESTION: … help us get the creative painting juices flowing and share your favorite use of paint (whether it’s something you’ve done or just something you’ve seen). Is it a surprisingly stellar color combo? An object that was totally transformed by a few brushstrokes? Or perhaps a painted pattern or stencil that really make the room?
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, July 21st at 8pm EST
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: Two
  • PRIZE SHIPS: The lower 48 United States
  • USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winners will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday. Good luck!

I am in the process of tearing up the press and stick tiles on my kitchen floor. My plan is to paint the floor and I would LOVE to use the giveaway money to purchase some stencils and paint to create a wonderful, one of a kind, custom kitchen floor for my 150+ year old New England style home.
Got my fingers crossed, even while I type!

My fav use of paint is in a room YHL helped me with! A round wood pedestal table was remade in blue to go in our front room which now is a fun, warm, cozy welcome and reading space. It shocked me to paint a table blue but it is one of my fav elements in the house!

SHINE ON ME….We are currently undertaking another task of repainting a headboard and large nightstand to be used as a makeup table. The transformation is amazing. We will be accenting the white headboard with our beautiful gray wall color. Such fun!

Shine on me! Sunny is so talented…I absolutely love the monogram wall decals – it is a great way to personalize a room. I love how she had the headboards slipcovered in Lily’s room too! We have repainted our place over the past 2 years and it is totally transformed, but a fun project I took on last year was to paint two church kneelers which had a lot of meaning to my family and were going to be thrown in the trash. Now they’re part of our home decor that has an interesting story.

Shine On Me! I love painting everything from canvas to walls to old metal/iron pieces found in thrift stores, but my favorite thing is painting furniture. I know everyone and their mother is doing this now, but I’ve been doing it for YEARS. A creative outlet inherited from my mother. In fact, our garage is pretty much just my workshop which is currently filled with projects waiting to be finished! I post most of these on my blog: http://sternerstyle.blogspot.com/

My favorite thing to do with paint is transforming old items from yards sales into something new and modern. Since we live on the seacoast, we find a lot of old nautical items:oars, buoys, etc. It’s so fun coming up with new ideas on how to use them differently and creating them into something fresh and new!

I’m suddenly in love with painting anything and everything I see in my house! (This month is 1 year in our new home) we’ve done our fair share of changes and love all of em!

We are doing a huge paint job this weekend in our bedroom. (Going for a suede finish on one wall). Id love to pop a few items up from Sunny to give it the finished polished look it deserves!

I just finished painting my home office and the difference a few cans of paint makes is unbelievable. The room went from train wreck to eye candy within a matter of days. The color combo is one of my new favorites, ocean mist blue and cream. Next up I am painting some mismatched frames which will soon hold years of family photos. Cant wait!

Shine on me! I have two paint projects I’m pretty proud of–one is in my dining room, it’s actually similar to the bottom picture of floor that Sunny did. Beneath the chair rail, I stenciled diamonds, and then did a fleur de lis on top. Also, I used a huge swirly wall stencil in my toilet room. :)
