Fab Freebie: Sunny Side Up

***This giveaway is no longer accepting entries.***

If you’re a Richmonder, you might’ve already deciphered that the Sunny mentioned in this morning’s Reader Redesign is none other than local paint heroine Sunny Goode. Heck, even non-locals with a good memory might have picked up on it since Sunny’s name has popped up more than once on YHL, like when we house crashed this Domino-featured home that sported Sunny’s signature stenciled paint treatment on her floors:

Sunny Give Katie Floor

Or when we dropped in on her store, Sunny’s Goodtime Paints, a couple of years ago:

Sunny Give Store 2

Sunny Give Store

Plus we even got to sneak a peek of one of her newest creations: the floor at the soon-to-be open children’s consignment boutique called Clover located in Richmond’s Carytown district. Sidenote: we’ll be showcasing even more inspiration from this stunning shop soon because it’s chock full of awesome (and doable!) ideas.

Sunny Give Clover Floor

But in case you’re still in the dark about just how talented and inspiring Sunny is, allow us to shine a little light on the subject. Sunny serves up a boatload of tools and inspiration to make your next paint job work a little harder when it comes to creating a more unique, playful, personal, and beautiful space. We know her best for her stencils, color washes, and stains- which can bring some much-needed pattern to a blank floor or wall. But she’s also got monograms, decals, and even two books (Paint Can! and its kid-tastic sidekick).

Sunny Give Product Four

So because Sunny has so much fun stuff to dish out, we’re excited to announce that TWO lucky winners will score an $100 shopping spree. So you have the chance to snag whatever goodies catch your eye on her site the most! And the rest of you will be able to cash in on a pretty sweet discount too (stay tuned for those details on Thurs). But enough jibber-jabber. Here are all the deets:

  • PRIZE: $100 towards anything from Sunny’s Goodtime Paints
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “SHINE ON ME!” and…
  • BONUS QUESTION: … help us get the creative painting juices flowing and share your favorite use of paint (whether it’s something you’ve done or just something you’ve seen). Is it a surprisingly stellar color combo? An object that was totally transformed by a few brushstrokes? Or perhaps a painted pattern or stencil that really make the room?
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, July 21st at 8pm EST
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: Two
  • PRIZE SHIPS: The lower 48 United States
  • USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winners will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday. Good luck!

We painted our wood paneling in our living room and now we want to move on to our kitchen (it has peachy orange laminate counter tops and orangish wood cabinets with gold hardware… yikes!) I would LOVE to paint our cabinets and possibly our counter….

I painted a piece of scrap linoleum (after much sanding, a coat of primer, and followed by numerous coat of polyurethane) to make a “rug” for some friends. They used it as a great alternative to a real rug because of the easy cleanup for pets!

Shine on me! Painting pine flooring in my little girl’s room white or a sage green…well, first I’d have to rip up the carpet and put down the pine flooring, but it would be so charming I think.

Shine on me! I appreciated using the Benjamin Moore Aura paint card book because all the colors were designed to go with each other. I didn’t have to make too many choices. Just picked colors I liked and they looked good together! I would love to win this give-away because now that we’ve painted many rooms in our new house, it’s time to jazz things up!

    Shine On Me

I painted a dingy-scuffed up-stained with something in the middle wood floor in my craft room. It’d a dark brown and it’s just beautiful. I never would’ve painted a wood floor in good shape, but this was not in good shape and it was the best thing we could’ve done.

SHINE ON ME! Lately, I’ve seen a lot of inexpensive mirrors with frames that have been spray painted (or otherwise painted) and I would love to try that in my home. It would make the piece unique and I can also tailor the colors to match my scheme.

I was really impressed with how our dining room table turned out after I gave it a few pain-staking coats of white and polyurethane. I’m excited to see my next painting plan come to fruition – creating a green and yellow masterpiece on the glass of an old window to put on our blue walls.

I really like it when paint combined with stencils and texture can make a wall look like it has been papered but its not. If that makes sense :)

    SHINE ON ME!!

Since we’re expecting our first child in September, we’re hard at work on the finishing touches in our nursery. I like the idea (stolen from the book Feathering the Nest) of stenciling something low on the nursery walls so that a crawling baby will be drawn to the contrast in paint color.

    SHINE ON ME!

I love the way paint can completely change a piece of furniture! It makes me so proud of my generation to know that there are thousands of us out there, grabbing a discarded piece of furniture from the thrift store, roadside or dumpster and are giving it new life through some paint and TLC. Recycling is a beautiful thing.
