Thanks to random.org, these three ladies are getting a kick start to Mother’s Day: Traci (who inherited her mother’s worrying skills!), April (who got her mom’s love of shopping, travel and new things) and Stacy (who inherited the gift of being a good cook from her mom).
Because becoming a mom has mysteriously given Sherry the urge to learn how to sew (more on that here and here) we thought we’d use this pre-Mother’s Day giveaway to dish out TWO fabric-tastic prizes to THREE lucky winners. And they won’t have to sew a stitch because it has already been done for ’em. The first comes from City Chic Country Mouse, whose Etsy shop caters to those who want to inject a bit of chic to their chore list (not that any moms should be doing housework on Mother’s Day). Each of our three winners can choose from any of their colorful, graphic, and punchy ironing board covers, which will definitely cheer up any laundry room:
Plus those same three lucky winners get a double dose this week. A customized fabric wreath from a local Richmonder who puts her sewing prowess to work in her Etsy shop, Love Elaine is also on the agenda. While she’s got cool modern spins on aprons, quilts, and bags – her fabric wreaths are always a favorite. And yup, each winner gets to pick our their own colors.
- PRIZE: Any ironing board cover from City Chic Country Mouse and a custom fabric wreath from Love Elaine
- TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “SEW ME!” and…
- BONUS QUESTION: … tell us one quality you’re glad you inherited – or wish you had inherited – from your mother (or other parental type figure). Are you grateful she instilled strong family values? Or that she passed down her sense of style / fabulous cooking abilities? Or do you keep waiting for her sewing skills to kick in like Sherry?
- GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, May 4th at 8pm EST
- NUMBER OF WINNERS: Three
- PRIZE SHIPS: The United States and Canada
- USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winners will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday morning for the announcement of our winners. Good luck…
Note: We weren’t paid or perk’d for hosting this giveaway, we just like rewarding our lovely readers! See our Giveaway FAQs page for more info. Pics from City Chic Country Mouse and Love Elaine.
SEW ME!

I hope to carry on the traditional week night dinners of “Mustgos”… When everything must go! She made meals out everything and anything you would find in the fridge without breaking a sweat! I hope to carry of this cook with ease (and budget friendly, of course) trait.
SEW ME!
I inherited my mom’s love to be creative…I’m no where near as creative as you guys :) But I do like to have fun and enjoy projects and taking on new things!
SEW ME!! My mom taught me to cook…I hated it then, but I love it now!
SEW ME!
I’m so happy my Mom passed down cooking and sewing skills to me. I also have a good deal of her organizing skills.
Happy (early) Mother’s Day, Sherry!
Sew Me!!!
…still waiting for those sewing skills to kick in from my mom!
SEW ME!
I inherited a quirky sort of fearlessness from my grandmother, which according to my mom was not fun for my parents to deal with when I was a toddler (or even now when I do things like travel in Mexico).
SEW ME! I inherited my mom’s love of learning and always wanting to have fun!
SEW ME!
I was fortunate enough to get my mom’s love of crafting and sewing quilts! Unfortunately, I wish I had also inherited her patience ;)
SEW ME!
I don’t remember my mom much (she died when I was a baby), but I like to think I’ve inherited her warmth and love for people.
Sew Me!
I’m glad I inherited my mother’s patience.
SEW ME! My Mom passed on the ability to cook which I’m pretty sure is how I scored my fiance :)
SEW ME!!
I am ETERNALLY grateful for my mother’s sense of creativity. My dad couldn’t glue together two popsicle sticks and I have every other thing in common with him.
And just for the record, DROOLING over that pink chevron ironing board cover…
Sew Me! I definitely inherited a lot of phrases from my mother. Such as, “I’m not going to tell you again!” When I’m upset with my daughter for doing something I have repeatedly told her not to do.
SEW ME… I am so glad I inherited my grandma’s quilt rack that my grandpa made her.
Sew Me!
I just inherited my grandmother’s sewing machine, so here’s hoping I got some sewing skills as well!!
SEW ME!
I inherited my mother’s love of cooking and baking, but the skills got lost somewhere along the way.
Sew me! Im glad I got my mother’s money management abilities!
Love these. I wish that I had my mom’s sewing skills. Sew Me. Thanks!
SEW ME! I wish I had inheritied my moms’ skin & hair.
Sew Me…
I love being a mom!!!!!
SEW ME!
I am glad that my mother passed on self-sufficiency and a willingness to attempt to DIY. She has taught me that even if you don’t know how to do it —you can learn (and if it ends horribly, you can always try again or hire someone to fix it :)! ). In her most recent house purchse, she put in her own wood floors, texturized her own walls, sewed her own fancy curtains, re-finished her dining room chairs, fixed her own plumbing, ulled up her own carpet, landscaped her own yard etc. etc. All while working full time and being single! Go mom go!
SEW ME! I’m most like my dad but I did inherit (some of) my mom’s ability to remember/recall dates and events. It’s not always a good thing b/c she hasn’t forgotten the things I did when I was younger and she likes to tell stories which still trigger me to roll my eyes like a 13-yr old. Oh, and we are both chocoholics.
Sew me!
SEW ME!
I inherited my mom’s optimism, I hope:)
SEW ME!
I am thankful I inherited my mom’s love for reading the Bible. I can just picture her reading her Bible each morning with a cup of coffee… and now I have the same routine.
SEW ME
My mother instilled strong family values and how to love with all of our hearts! I miss my mom everyday, but I am so thankful for every single thing she taught me!
Geez I was so excited to enter with my clever “that fabric wreath is SEW ME” response I forgot about the bonus question. I inherited my grandma’s baking skills. Which is so meaningful to me right now since after her stroke she lost her ability to bake. I try to send her cookies in the mail at least once a month; just like she did for me when I was in college. (And probably just like my now husband did back then, I’m sure grandpa eats most of them:)
SEW ME =)
SEW ME! I’ve inherited a sewing machine from my mother-in-law and sewing/craft skills from my sweet grandmommie. Some day the hubs will buy me a brand new sewing/monogramming machine and build a craft room for me!
SEW ME!
I’m glad I inherited my mom’s love of family, but really wish I knew how to sew!
Sew me!
I wish I could sew like my mother. My sewing experiences are much like Sherry’s – they usually result in my mom having to rescue me, the machine or both!
SEW ME!!!! My mother is teaching me how to sew…so exciting to learn!!!
SEW ME! What a fabulous giveaway! I’m grateful that I inherited my mother’s creativity. Growing up, I watched her sew our Easter dresses, cook amazing meals and turn a ho-hum room into a masterpiece. She has inspired me to get my creative juices flowing.
Sew me!
I’m glad I got my mom’s sense of humor! :)
Sew Me!!! I am very grateful that I inherited my mom’s youthful looks. She’s about to turn 50 and doesn’t look a day over 35. I also inherited an ever present smile on my face. Thanks Mom!
sew me!
i’m glad i got my mom’s red hair and freckles :)
Sew me!!!!!!
I inherited my moms compassionate heart!! She is so great at putting others before herself!!
Sew Me!
I am a clean freak thanks to my mother!
Sew Me!
I am very grateful that my mom passed on the importance of a healthy lifestyle. Teaching us about healthy eating and that homemade food always tastes better than fast food. She also taught us not only the importance of exercise but that it is important to exercise the way you like, not what media or dieters tells you. She was a very good example for these things and many more!
SEW ME! I inherited my mothers perfectionist in ironing which is why this givaway is perfect. When I was in college I received the “Most likely to iron her underwear award” from by bible study girls, although I do NOT do that-they knew how much I enjoyed ironing and thought it was so weird.
SEW ME! I’m glad my mom passed on her love of entertaining, especially just casual get togethers with friends and family.
SEW ME!
I’ve inherited my mother’s sewing skills, which are minimal at best :P
SEW ME!!
My Grandmother was one of a kind a a style fashoinista! She used to sew all of our kid outfits, some absolutely darling. I believe I inherited her creative side and kind heart. She is truly a woman that is missed. Happy Mother’s Day!!!
SEW ME!!
I’m very grateful that I inherited a love/gift of baking from my grandmother. Unfortunately I missed out on her wonderful ability to sew! I think I might have even less sewing patience than you Sherry!
SEW ME! I’m defintely my mother’s daughter, and people used to tell me I was a “child of expensive taste”. But I really REALLY enjoy “fancy” food, like whole grain breads, brie, proscuitto and tapanades. So I’m glad I learned to appreciate the best by following her example, rather than being swayed by my picky friends who didn’t want to eat our “dirty bread”.
