Thanks to random.org, these three ladies are getting a kick start to Mother’s Day: Traci (who inherited her mother’s worrying skills!), April (who got her mom’s love of shopping, travel and new things) and Stacy (who inherited the gift of being a good cook from her mom).
Because becoming a mom has mysteriously given Sherry the urge to learn how to sew (more on that here and here) we thought we’d use this pre-Mother’s Day giveaway to dish out TWO fabric-tastic prizes to THREE lucky winners. And they won’t have to sew a stitch because it has already been done for ’em. The first comes from City Chic Country Mouse, whose Etsy shop caters to those who want to inject a bit of chic to their chore list (not that any moms should be doing housework on Mother’s Day). Each of our three winners can choose from any of their colorful, graphic, and punchy ironing board covers, which will definitely cheer up any laundry room:
Plus those same three lucky winners get a double dose this week. A customized fabric wreath from a local Richmonder who puts her sewing prowess to work in her Etsy shop, Love Elaine is also on the agenda. While she’s got cool modern spins on aprons, quilts, and bags – her fabric wreaths are always a favorite. And yup, each winner gets to pick our their own colors.
- PRIZE: Any ironing board cover from City Chic Country Mouse and a custom fabric wreath from Love Elaine
- TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “SEW ME!” and…
- BONUS QUESTION: … tell us one quality you’re glad you inherited – or wish you had inherited – from your mother (or other parental type figure). Are you grateful she instilled strong family values? Or that she passed down her sense of style / fabulous cooking abilities? Or do you keep waiting for her sewing skills to kick in like Sherry?
- GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, May 4th at 8pm EST
- NUMBER OF WINNERS: Three
- PRIZE SHIPS: The United States and Canada
- USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winners will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday morning for the announcement of our winners. Good luck…
Note: We weren’t paid or perk’d for hosting this giveaway, we just like rewarding our lovely readers! See our Giveaway FAQs page for more info. Pics from City Chic Country Mouse and Love Elaine.

I lost my mama Sunday morning and I have given great thought during her last days as to what she gave. Honesty, integrity, morals, work ethic, compassion, self reliance, and the list goes on and on. Mostly, she gave me love.

I’m so happy that I inherited my mom’s cooking skills! I think it’s hereditary because I had never really cooked before I met my husband. When we moved in together, I discovered that I could cook…and not just any cooking…but exactly like my mom’s cooking!
Growing up it was always funny because my friends and my brothers friends would always follow up an invite to come over with “Is your mom cooking?”. People still bring it up to this day. And now, people get excited when they find out that I am cooking!
SEW ME!! I inherited my mother’s caring spirit and great family values. I wish I could say I inherited sewing or crafting skills from her but neither one of us have those skills! I guess you could say I inherited her non-craft skills. :)
SEW ME! I inherited my mom’s love for getting great deals while shopping!
Sew me! I wish I had inherited my mom’s sewing ability. She may not have loved it, but at least she could do it! I gave up on the machine but have made some progress with my mini hand-held one!

SEW ME!!! My mama taught me to use humor and to look on the bright side even when things seem bleak. Right now she is doing just that laying in bed with a broken shoulder (broken in four places) while waiting for surgery in two days. What a trouper!!!
SEW ME!! I was lucky to inherited my Mom’s amazing multitasking skills and cooking skills :)
SEW ME! I am glad that I inherited my mom’s sense of humor!
I am lucky enough to have inherited my Mom’s resourcefulness when turning any space into a home. We moved a lot when I was young and my Mom was always great at reinventing things we already had to make each new house a home! This is a skill that I am grateful to have inherited, as my husband now has a job that requires us to relocate frequently.

I like to think I inherited a little bit of my mom’s superwoman genes. I’ve never seen anyone roll with the punches like she does, and she always inspires me to keep my head up!
I wish I had inherited my mom’s sewing ability and green thumb.
I inherited my Mom’s hair and pale skin and freckles… which I have a love/hate relationship with.

My parents inherited my love of family. There is nothing we love more then spending time together eating the terrible food we prepared ( we are not great cooks! ). :)

As a new mom, I also got the urge to learn to sew, just like Sherry! I just ordered my first sewing machine! I wish I had taken more time to watch both of my Grandmas sew while they were alive. I think they will be happy watching down on me trying to teach myself!
SEW ME! My mother is a wonderful seamstress, I inherited, or rather she taught me, her sewing skills. However, this is a blessing and a curse becuase sometimes I know I could make something myself, but just want to spend the extra money and let someone else do it for me. :)
SEW ME! I inherited the gift of being a good cook from my mom.
