Fab Freebie: Sew Simple

***This giveaway is now closed – see who won below!***

After clocking 10,000 entries under 24 hours, we’re already back to crown a random winner of the SINGER One sewing machine. The lucky person is… Angela (who says she’s a 1 on the sewing skills scale: “I can sew a straight line, but only if someone threads the machine for me first”). Congrats!

I’ve never touched a sewing machine in my life, but I’ve heard Sherry’s passionate muttering from the next room while using hers. Which is why anything labeled “Our easiest to use machine!” sounds compelling. And we’re so (sew?) excited that Singer is helping us give away a SINGER One – a feature-packed sewing machine that retails for nearly $500 – to one lucky reader! Something about an Automatic Needle Threader and OneTouch stitch selection sounds “approachable.” Plus the 24-available stitch patterns makes me believe you could fake your way into some pretty fancy stuff. Oh, and did we mention that Singer will ship this puppy anywhere in the world?

Singer One Giveaway

  • PRIZE: A SINGER One sewing machine (a $499 value!)
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “SEW ME!” and tell us…
  • BONUS QUESTION: …where do you rank yourself on the sewing skills continuum? Are you a 1 like me (I couldn’t sew my way out of a bag)? A self-proclaimed 3 like Sherry (who could probably make “a wonky bag”)? Or are you more like a 10 (who could not only sew a bag from scratch, but do so blindfolded)?
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, Dec 12th at 8pm EST or at 10,000 entries (whichever comes first)
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
  • PRIZE SHIPS: This giveaway is available worldwide (we always beg every vendor to ship internationally but some companies are not legally able to vend things beyond the US – more on that here).
  • USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday for the announcement of our winner. Good luck…
  • ***COMMENT ISSUES? If you’re trying to enter but keep getting a “duplicate comment” warning, click here to see how to solve it!

Note: We aren’t paid or perked for hosting these giveaways, we just do ‘em to thank you awesome folks for stopping in. See our Giveaway FAQ page for more info. Pics courtesy of SINGER.

SEW ME: I have been dying to take on more craft projects and get more comfortable with the sewing machine. Right now I would rank myself at a 2 or 3. Can make a basic envelope bag, but hoping to get better. Maybe one day curtains!

SEW ME!!! Please! I’d say I’m probably a 4 with a sewing machine. I do mostly hand sewing (baby quilts) and I haven’t had a machine in years, but I’d love to work with one again, and I’m overseas!

    SEW ME!

When it comes to sewing, I approach any project like I am a 10, but in reality I’m probably more like a 3. Regardless of the quality of the end result, there’s something always so satisfying about having accomplished any sewing project – be it mending a hole in the armpit of a t-shirt no one will ever notice (or care about besides me) or creating a baby blanket for a friend’s newest addition!

SEW ME! I’m a good sewer (I can make slip covers from scratch)and I used to sew a lot. I worked in a costume shop in college and learned to make patterns which really upped my game. My sister, hoever, was always a better sewer than I. Our grandmother was the queen of all things sewing. She worked in a tailor shop that made tailored suits, etc. I’d love a new sewing machine so I could finish a project that I’ve left unfinished for 5+ years.Jo @ Let’s Face the Music

    Sew me!!!

I’m a beginner, definitely a 2, because in home ec in the early 80s (9th grade?) they not only made us sew a velour jumpsuit…THEY MADE US WEAR IT TO SCHOOL.

I haven’t sewed since. But I WANT to.

I’d like to make my own bags and make halloween costumes for my dog. Yes, crazy dog lady. If I got good at it I’d make things for myself, but my dog is the guinea pig, so to speak. Thanks!

SEW ME! I would say I am a 5 out of 10 on the sewing scale. I find I ususally start off really well, get restless because it is taking too long, and then start to take shortcuts. I guess I like instant gratification.

I’m probably an 8 I make a lot of Halloween costumes, some curtains, cushions, and slip covers for furniture. I don’t make much clothing but I have done it. I just broke my sewing machine and was looking to get one for Christmas, so if I win that mean my husband will just have to go buy a diamond ring instead. LOL

I would have to give myself a solid 7 in the sewing department. My portfolio include sewing 100 balloons to a track suit to make a grape costume and turning 6 yards of furry material into a full-body “Munster (cheese)” costume, in addition to things like curtains… Actually, maybe I’m more of a 3 purely based on the absurdity and lack of professionalism in my projects.

I think i’m a 3-4. I learned some by watching my mom when I was younger. Didn’t touch a sewing machine for easily 15 years. Then once I had our first 4 years ago – I wanted to try to make a few things for her (a pillowcase dress, a few receiving blankets & some curtains). I did ok. I felt self-taught, so in that manner I was proud of myself. The items I made are decent & have held up but certainly aren’t store quality! lol!
