Fab Freebie: Sew Simple

***This giveaway is now closed – see who won below!***

After clocking 10,000 entries under 24 hours, we’re already back to crown a random winner of the SINGER One sewing machine. The lucky person is… Angela (who says she’s a 1 on the sewing skills scale: “I can sew a straight line, but only if someone threads the machine for me first”). Congrats!

I’ve never touched a sewing machine in my life, but I’ve heard Sherry’s passionate muttering from the next room while using hers. Which is why anything labeled “Our easiest to use machine!” sounds compelling. And we’re so (sew?) excited that Singer is helping us give away a SINGER One – a feature-packed sewing machine that retails for nearly $500 – to one lucky reader! Something about an Automatic Needle Threader and OneTouch stitch selection sounds “approachable.” Plus the 24-available stitch patterns makes me believe you could fake your way into some pretty fancy stuff. Oh, and did we mention that Singer will ship this puppy anywhere in the world?

Singer One Giveaway

  • PRIZE: A SINGER One sewing machine (a $499 value!)
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “SEW ME!” and tell us…
  • BONUS QUESTION: …where do you rank yourself on the sewing skills continuum? Are you a 1 like me (I couldn’t sew my way out of a bag)? A self-proclaimed 3 like Sherry (who could probably make “a wonky bag”)? Or are you more like a 10 (who could not only sew a bag from scratch, but do so blindfolded)?
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, Dec 12th at 8pm EST or at 10,000 entries (whichever comes first)
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
  • PRIZE SHIPS: This giveaway is available worldwide (we always beg every vendor to ship internationally but some companies are not legally able to vend things beyond the US – more on that here).
  • USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday for the announcement of our winner. Good luck…
  • ***COMMENT ISSUES? If you’re trying to enter but keep getting a “duplicate comment” warning, click here to see how to solve it!

Note: We aren’t paid or perked for hosting these giveaways, we just do ‘em to thank you awesome folks for stopping in. See our Giveaway FAQ page for more info. Pics courtesy of SINGER.

I’m about a 2. I can fix things very easily, but making items from scratch is hard for me. :)

SEW ME! I’d say I’m at a 5. I know enough to follow a pattern for some intermediate-level items, and create some simpler things on my own, but not comfy enough to do anything too crazy!

I think I’m around a 5. I’ve made bags, pillows, and such… but I’m hoping to become closer to an 8 sometime in the near future.

P.S. You guys are awesome and I have recently taken on the task of reading your blog from the start to present. I’m on page 719!

Sew Me! I would say I’m maybe a 4 or 5. I have made some Halloween costumes, basic quilt tops and a couple of pillow covers. Nothing fancy, but I can wind a bobbin, thread a machine and I even know how to replace a broken needle (oops!)

Definately a 1 (or even a 0) on the sewing ability scale – but with 4 kids and lots of alterations and hemming required – I could save a bundle with a machine of my own (especially one that is “easy to use”)

SEW ME! I guess I’m probably a 5 or 6, I managed to quilt a full size lone star quilt on my current machine, but it was only straight lines and not without a lot of cursing and thread tension issues, and oh let’s not even talk about how the binding turned out.

I’m a 3-4. Curtains, bags, scarves and one time years ago a dress (with my mother’s help) but don’t ask me how or when to use a different foot or how to do button holes because my answer probably won’t be very helpful.

Well, I’m certainly not a ten but maybe a seven! I was fortunate enough to take 5 years of 4-H sewing as a child, through late elementary to junior high, and made a few outfits to show in the county fair. I just found my “Fifth” year 4-H pin about a month ago and that was pretty neat for me. I’d love to win this sewing machine so I can give my other one to a friend who would love to learn. Thanks for hosting this giveaway!

On a scale of 1 to 10, I’m sitting around a 7 — but don’t ask me to explain anything technical, or I’ll respond “know how you can fold over that extra piece and hide it like so? Do that.” Keeping it honest!

SEW ME!! I might be a 5 1/2! haha I still have lots to learn. I pin lots of projects on pinterest. I just made a teepee but it was strictly straight seams, but it’s pretty nifty. I could definitely use a machine that threads itself because I’m spending more and more time trying to thread mine. My eyes aren’t what they used to be!!
