Fab Freebie: Sew Simple

***This giveaway is now closed – see who won below!***

After clocking 10,000 entries under 24 hours, we’re already back to crown a random winner of the SINGER One sewing machine. The lucky person is… Angela (who says she’s a 1 on the sewing skills scale: “I can sew a straight line, but only if someone threads the machine for me first”). Congrats!

I’ve never touched a sewing machine in my life, but I’ve heard Sherry’s passionate muttering from the next room while using hers. Which is why anything labeled “Our easiest to use machine!” sounds compelling. And we’re so (sew?) excited that Singer is helping us give away a SINGER One – a feature-packed sewing machine that retails for nearly $500 – to one lucky reader! Something about an Automatic Needle Threader and OneTouch stitch selection sounds “approachable.” Plus the 24-available stitch patterns makes me believe you could fake your way into some pretty fancy stuff. Oh, and did we mention that Singer will ship this puppy anywhere in the world?

Singer One Giveaway

  • PRIZE: A SINGER One sewing machine (a $499 value!)
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “SEW ME!” and tell us…
  • BONUS QUESTION: …where do you rank yourself on the sewing skills continuum? Are you a 1 like me (I couldn’t sew my way out of a bag)? A self-proclaimed 3 like Sherry (who could probably make “a wonky bag”)? Or are you more like a 10 (who could not only sew a bag from scratch, but do so blindfolded)?
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, Dec 12th at 8pm EST or at 10,000 entries (whichever comes first)
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
  • PRIZE SHIPS: This giveaway is available worldwide (we always beg every vendor to ship internationally but some companies are not legally able to vend things beyond the US – more on that here).
  • USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday for the announcement of our winner. Good luck…
  • ***COMMENT ISSUES? If you’re trying to enter but keep getting a “duplicate comment” warning, click here to see how to solve it!

Note: We aren’t paid or perked for hosting these giveaways, we just do ‘em to thank you awesome folks for stopping in. See our Giveaway FAQ page for more info. Pics courtesy of SINGER.

    SEW ME!

I’m around a 1.5. Very basic skills, mostly sewing machines terrify me. But I want to be a 10!

    SEW ME!

I think I’m a very generous 4. But I’ve never had a sewing machine of my very own before, so maybe if I win I can get some practice in and finally achieve a 5 or even a 6 :)

SEW ME! I am probably a 2 or 3. My grandma taught me when I was little, and I made a few cute things a long time ago, but it’s probably been almost 15 years.

I can handle a wonky bag. Maybe a pillow. So I’m right there with Sherry at a 3, probably. Maybe a 2.

I would probably be a 2. I am currently attempting to make a t-shirt quilt, however none of my lines are straight and it has sat half-finished in my office for months. But I WILL finish it.

Maybe a solid 2. I’ve made a few pillows over the years, but never past the age of 12 and all with the help of my mom. I’m sure that sewing machines have changed just a tad since then!

Definitely a 2/3, however, a sewing machine is on my Christmas list. The last real sewing I did was when I was 12 – made a quiclt with my aunt, but it was definitely more her sewing and me watching.

I would probs rank myself pretty close to the bottom. We’ll go 1.5. I can sew a somewhat straightish line, but if I had an awesome possum sewing machine, I could see myself just exploding with neato sewing craft fever!

I’m probably a 1.5. I can fix a button, and can sort of kind of hem pants by hand. But using a machine or sewing anything particularly useful? Hasn’t happened yet! I would love to learn.

Sew me! I am likely a 1.5. I can reattach a button and my mom taught me how to sew a straight line when I was little but that’s where it ends. I have been dying to get a machine and have my friend teach me how to make pillows and hem curtains, but there are so many other things to spend $$ on!

    Sew me!

Sewing for me almost always ends in crying because my mom is way better than me and I feel incompetent lol, it is a vulnerable activity for me. I’ve asked for a sewing machine for Christmas the last couple of years, hoping to add it to my list of conquered DIY tasks and maybe now that I’m married and out of the house I can get through it without kleenex!

Sew me! I’ll rank myself at a 6 – I have minimal experience but I’m good at figuring things out and producing professional looking results, so I’d guess my bag would have a few bells and whistles and be sans “wonkiness” but take a looong time to produce ;)

I’m probably about a 5. I can make some nice even pillow cases and curtains. I’ve even made a onsie for my infant using one of his daddy’s old t-shirts. But when something goes wrong with my machine, I give up and put it away for months hoping it will magically fix itself.
