Fab Freebie: Sew Simple

***This giveaway is now closed – see who won below!***

After clocking 10,000 entries under 24 hours, we’re already back to crown a random winner of the SINGER One sewing machine. The lucky person is… Angela (who says she’s a 1 on the sewing skills scale: “I can sew a straight line, but only if someone threads the machine for me first”). Congrats!

I’ve never touched a sewing machine in my life, but I’ve heard Sherry’s passionate muttering from the next room while using hers. Which is why anything labeled “Our easiest to use machine!” sounds compelling. And we’re so (sew?) excited that Singer is helping us give away a SINGER One – a feature-packed sewing machine that retails for nearly $500 – to one lucky reader! Something about an Automatic Needle Threader and OneTouch stitch selection sounds “approachable.” Plus the 24-available stitch patterns makes me believe you could fake your way into some pretty fancy stuff. Oh, and did we mention that Singer will ship this puppy anywhere in the world?

Singer One Giveaway

  • PRIZE: A SINGER One sewing machine (a $499 value!)
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “SEW ME!” and tell us…
  • BONUS QUESTION: …where do you rank yourself on the sewing skills continuum? Are you a 1 like me (I couldn’t sew my way out of a bag)? A self-proclaimed 3 like Sherry (who could probably make “a wonky bag”)? Or are you more like a 10 (who could not only sew a bag from scratch, but do so blindfolded)?
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, Dec 12th at 8pm EST or at 10,000 entries (whichever comes first)
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
  • PRIZE SHIPS: This giveaway is available worldwide (we always beg every vendor to ship internationally but some companies are not legally able to vend things beyond the US – more on that here).
  • USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday for the announcement of our winner. Good luck…
  • ***COMMENT ISSUES? If you’re trying to enter but keep getting a “duplicate comment” warning, click here to see how to solve it!

Note: We aren’t paid or perked for hosting these giveaways, we just do ‘em to thank you awesome folks for stopping in. See our Giveaway FAQ page for more info. Pics courtesy of SINGER.

I am a self proclaimed 1, but I have high aspirations for myself to improve and to be half a good as my grandmother one day!

    SEW ME!

I’m a straight-up two. I have sewn curtains in multiple rooms in my house and I have sewn one pillow. Both were successful, but sewing straight lines ain’t that hard.

Sew me! I’d rank myself a five, I’ve made costumes and quilt, but usually I just sew a straight line.

I think i might be a 5. I get the basics, and can follow a simple pattern, but I don’t know enough to make up something or use bias tape…

A 2, only because I have actually touched a sewing machine before and used it, but no level of skill at all. :) I would love to learn on this one!

I’m somewhere between a 3 and a 10 – probably a solid 6. I sew quite often but it’s nothing that’s going to be featured on the runways next season. Mostly dog bed covers (I’m getting pretty good at putting in zippers) and dog toys. Do you see a theme here?

I’m a 1. I used a sewing machine in home ec in 7th grade, and I repair small holes and buttons with a needle and thread by hand.

    “SEW ME!”

I could sew a button on a shirt and maybe close a hole in something, but only if the stitching wasn’t visible (I cannot sew a straight line to save my life) – so any assistance I can get is extremely helpful!

Thanks for hosting such a great giveaway!

I’d say I’m a 4 or 5, but I think most of my frustrations with sewing have come from having a crummy machine, I don’t remember it being so hard in middle school home-ec!

SEW ME! I am probably a #3 with my GRANDMOM’s old machine…creating my own pink and red tree skirt and ‘heeled boot’ stockings that turned out a little less than stellar! And I just took on the task of sewing my sister in law’s baby bumpers, quilt and crib skirting for her new little arrival in June! EKKS!

I’d say 7, I could sew a decent bag from scratch… but not blindfolded. Maybe with one eye closed. Ha.
I have a cheap machine that my parents gave me about 7 years ago that I have sewn and sewn and sewn on and the thing recently gave out, UGH! I feel kinda lost without my machine, this would be a Christmas miracle to win a new one! :)
