Fab Freebie: Sew Simple

***This giveaway is now closed – see who won below!***

After clocking 10,000 entries under 24 hours, we’re already back to crown a random winner of the SINGER One sewing machine. The lucky person is… Angela (who says she’s a 1 on the sewing skills scale: “I can sew a straight line, but only if someone threads the machine for me first”). Congrats!

I’ve never touched a sewing machine in my life, but I’ve heard Sherry’s passionate muttering from the next room while using hers. Which is why anything labeled “Our easiest to use machine!” sounds compelling. And we’re so (sew?) excited that Singer is helping us give away a SINGER One – a feature-packed sewing machine that retails for nearly $500 – to one lucky reader! Something about an Automatic Needle Threader and OneTouch stitch selection sounds “approachable.” Plus the 24-available stitch patterns makes me believe you could fake your way into some pretty fancy stuff. Oh, and did we mention that Singer will ship this puppy anywhere in the world?

Singer One Giveaway

  • PRIZE: A SINGER One sewing machine (a $499 value!)
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “SEW ME!” and tell us…
  • BONUS QUESTION: …where do you rank yourself on the sewing skills continuum? Are you a 1 like me (I couldn’t sew my way out of a bag)? A self-proclaimed 3 like Sherry (who could probably make “a wonky bag”)? Or are you more like a 10 (who could not only sew a bag from scratch, but do so blindfolded)?
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, Dec 12th at 8pm EST or at 10,000 entries (whichever comes first)
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
  • PRIZE SHIPS: This giveaway is available worldwide (we always beg every vendor to ship internationally but some companies are not legally able to vend things beyond the US – more on that here).
  • USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday for the announcement of our winner. Good luck…
  • ***COMMENT ISSUES? If you’re trying to enter but keep getting a “duplicate comment” warning, click here to see how to solve it!

Note: We aren’t paid or perked for hosting these giveaways, we just do ‘em to thank you awesome folks for stopping in. See our Giveaway FAQ page for more info. Pics courtesy of SINGER.

Sew me! I am probably a 2 or 3. I have been using my mother in law’s machine for years to make drapes and purses but would LOVE to make my little girl some dresses.

Probably an 8 or 9, but I am doing all my sewing on my great-grandmother’s machine, and occasionally I do wish I had a little newer one.

I am probably a 6 or 7 with 8-ish moments. I can do a few things well on my old machine, but I generally keep to pretty easy stuff. I did, however, make a ball gown once that came out beautifully!

SEW ME! I’m probably a 7. My latest sewing project, just finished yesterday, was a Chrismas dress for my just-turned-one-year old granddaughter. The dress was sewn from an old pattern I had that I modernized by altering said pattern. It actually turned out pretty cute!

I’d have to rank myself a 1. I know there’s a pedal involved and something about a bobbin. But, I want to be a sewer and am always fascinated at friends who can sew. I need to learn so some diy projects can happen sooner rather than later!

I’m like a 2.7 on a sewing machine but like a 9.9 sewing by hand. Not even lying. I’ve always been very proficiant at sewing things by hand. I alter almost all my skirts and take in alot of tops because I’m slightly petite:) I can only imagine what would happen if I learned how to use a machine. I would be a sewing speedster!

I would say I’m a 2-3, but for some reason when Christmas rolls around, I like to think I can sew, so I get myself psyched up for all sorts of fun pinterest projects, just to remind myself 1/2 hr into it all that I really can’t sew – but I’m SURE this machine would help! :)

I’d say I’m a 4. I’ve made a few things and helped my mom with some fancy stuff when I was younger. My mom actually sewed all the curtains in my parent’s house, slip covers for two couches and a chair, and my Prom dress (and it was seriously cute)! Yeah…I have big shoes to fill. :)

I’m definitely a solid 3. Straight stitches on basic things are my speed. Add gathering or intricate things (like a ruffle, or, a zipper!), and I’m out. My Mom is amazing though. She actually made my wedding dress, and has made a ton of costumes for our girls. We have a Sleeping Beauty, a Dorothy dress (Wizard of Oz), and a crazy “Nature Fairy”. I love them!
