Fab Freebie: Sew Simple

***This giveaway is now closed – see who won below!***

After clocking 10,000 entries under 24 hours, we’re already back to crown a random winner of the SINGER One sewing machine. The lucky person is… Angela (who says she’s a 1 on the sewing skills scale: “I can sew a straight line, but only if someone threads the machine for me first”). Congrats!

I’ve never touched a sewing machine in my life, but I’ve heard Sherry’s passionate muttering from the next room while using hers. Which is why anything labeled “Our easiest to use machine!” sounds compelling. And we’re so (sew?) excited that Singer is helping us give away a SINGER One – a feature-packed sewing machine that retails for nearly $500 – to one lucky reader! Something about an Automatic Needle Threader and OneTouch stitch selection sounds “approachable.” Plus the 24-available stitch patterns makes me believe you could fake your way into some pretty fancy stuff. Oh, and did we mention that Singer will ship this puppy anywhere in the world?

Singer One Giveaway

  • PRIZE: A SINGER One sewing machine (a $499 value!)
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “SEW ME!” and tell us…
  • BONUS QUESTION: …where do you rank yourself on the sewing skills continuum? Are you a 1 like me (I couldn’t sew my way out of a bag)? A self-proclaimed 3 like Sherry (who could probably make “a wonky bag”)? Or are you more like a 10 (who could not only sew a bag from scratch, but do so blindfolded)?
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, Dec 12th at 8pm EST or at 10,000 entries (whichever comes first)
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
  • PRIZE SHIPS: This giveaway is available worldwide (we always beg every vendor to ship internationally but some companies are not legally able to vend things beyond the US – more on that here).
  • USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday for the announcement of our winner. Good luck…
  • ***COMMENT ISSUES? If you’re trying to enter but keep getting a “duplicate comment” warning, click here to see how to solve it!

Note: We aren’t paid or perked for hosting these giveaways, we just do ‘em to thank you awesome folks for stopping in. See our Giveaway FAQ page for more info. Pics courtesy of SINGER.

    SEW ME!

My grandmother was a 10++. She was a well-known and busy seamstress all of her life. My mother was not too bad herself but I am 1! I could never get past threading the needle and bobbin so that it did anything other than make a tangled up mess! I really want to learn how and this machine sounds like just the ‘easy’ ticket I need!

    “SEW ME!”

I would have to say i am around a 3. I could get the machine threaded and make something simple; however when it comes to anything that requires actual skill…i definitely ask my mom to use her sewing skills and help me out! thanks for the giveaway!

SEW ME! I am probably a 4. I can sew it if I have to but wouldn’t be brave enough to take on a big project. Last thing I made was a Raggedy Ann costume for my daughter and it took me nearly a week to complete it. Turned out cute though :).

I’m a 3, trying to move up to a 6 with more practice! I’ve been sewing toddler skirts and pajama pants for my 2yr olds lately. Sherry, you could totally make Clara some simple skirts with all your extra fabric you’re accumulating!

I’m a 1. Maybe a 2 if the bobbin is already threaded. I’ve signed up for a beginner class at the beginning of next year, and I’d love to have this to learn on!

I’m a 5. I am great with straight lines and can follow a basic pattern but there is a ton more I’d love to learn. I’m currently “borrowing” my mom’s machine, so she would love for me to win this!!

I would probably rate myself a 3. I would rate myself higher, but I need more practice with a machine. I could sew the heck out of a bag by hand, but it would take FOREVER!!!

    SEW ME!

I rank myself about a 7 for sewing. I was taught as a young girl by my grandmother and cousin, forgot everything until my 20’s then picked it back up again. These days I sew household items and medieval/renaissance clothes for a club I belong to. Hoobah! :)

I’m definitely a 1. My mom tried to teach me, but after a couple of attempts she gave up on me. She claimed it was because her sewing machine was too old and complicated. I guess if I win I can put that theory to the test.

I’d say I’m roughly a constrained 3. I can probably produce something equally wonk-tastic as a Sherry bag, but that’s mostly due to the Wonk 3000* that I use to sew. It was $40 on sale at JoAnn’s.

*Probably not actually called Wonk 3000.

I’ve been sewing since I was in grade school and would say I’m something like an 8 or 9.. But I’m sewing on an old hand-me-down sewing machine from the eighties. It’s a Singer so don’t get me wrong, it’s in great shape and still works like a charm! But the seamstress in me really wants something updated :)
