Fab Freebie: Seasons’ Greetings

***This giveaway is no longer accepting entries***

Yes, I know it looks like I have a misplaced apostrophe up there, but trust me on this one. This week’s prize will have one of you sending handwritten greetings across all seasons of the year (see, I’m looking less punctuationally deviant already).

Shout Out Emmy Lu

As you may recall from Friday’s thank-you-to-our-sponsors post, Emmy Lu Design Studio is an awesome source for beautiful custom stationery with a DIY twist. Once you pick the style and fill in the custom details (whether it be a holiday card, personal stationery, an invitation or even a baby announcement) Emmy Lu hooks you up with a ready-to-print PDF. That means you can print as many as you want (whether you need five or five million), on any paper you want (bargain or mega-fancy-pants), for as long as you want (the file’s yours for eternity). Kinda genius, no?

Emmylu Giveaway

And since it’s nearly impossible to pick your favorite design, this week’s winner is getting a year’s worth of them! That means a new card/invite/announcement of the winner’s choosing for every month of the year (which loosely translates to 12 excuses to throw a party, pen a thank you note or even write your mom a letter for crying out loud).

So here’s how you can get your hands on these greetings by the dozen:

  • PRIZE: One custom Emmy Lu design per month (of $50 or less) for an entire year (that’s up to a $600 value!)
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “EMMY ME” and…
  • BONUS QUESTION: …tell us what you do to send seasonal greetings. Do you pose for a traditional family Christmas card? Or something quirkier (like photoshopping your chihuahua)? Maybe you abstain from the madness completely?
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, December 9th at 8pm EST
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
  • PRIZE SHIPS: Anywhere in the world!
  • USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday. Good luck!

    EMMY ME

In the past I give friends/neighbors goodies like cookies. This year I was planning on making some Christmas cards with my mother-in-law but this could be a great alternative.

I tend to send traditional holiday cards, but with a new baby, we are sending photo cards this year. Pretty boring!

I always choose cards with the best messages inside. I like the designs to be simple and understated. I like the words to take the cake.

I am a total slacker when it comes to Christmas cards. This year I am really going to try to send some, though. Once I have kids I will probably go the family picture route.

I usually try to make homemade caramels for the people I love. Since I’ve been a college student for so long (this is my first Christmas as a graduate) no one has expected me to remember to send things like Christmas cards. Oh no- am I an adult now? Do I have to start sending them??

I love digital cards but can never buck up to buy them. I have made our Christmas cards for the last three years now and find that I actually enjoy it.

For every holiday card I include photos of our cats dressed up appropriately. Halloween is always the most fun (we had a princess, a pirate and a devil this year), but Santa hats and antlers receive good reviews from family (and our friends think we’re “the crazy cat people”).

EMMY ME! With the holidays being so busy, I would often forget to send those holiday cards until I’m stressed out at the last minute. Now I hold-off all together until Valentine’s when I send a more personalized note–it’s more heart-felt and unexpected.

    EMMY ME (Please!)

We are sending out cards that read “Joy” on the front. They are adorable square cards from a specialty handmade card store in the quaint downtown area near where we live. For those who know us, “Joy” is a play on words with our name. We do posed picture cards every other year.

My parents typically have the youngest (newest) member of the family “write” the Christmas letter. One year the newest addition was my horse–complete with his wishing everyone a Mare-y Christmas and a Happy Neigh Year!

Now that this is the first Christmas my fiance and I will spend together, I am thinking we will send out a photo, maybe from our engagement photo session! :)

My mom always begs my sister and I to get Sears portraits like we did when we were kids (even though we’re adults and I’m married) but we always avoid it. Last year we set up our own “studio” and took a bunch of overly cheesy, overly posed pictures as a joke. She liked it!

I make all my holiday cards with some hole punches and rubber stamps. Lots of fun! (Though as I’m now in the middle of it, it seems more time consuming than anything else.) Still I know people appreciate the homemade touch!

I’m looking forward to upping the ante next year though once our first baby is born.
