Fab Freebie: Seasons’ Greetings

***This giveaway is no longer accepting entries***

Yes, I know it looks like I have a misplaced apostrophe up there, but trust me on this one. This week’s prize will have one of you sending handwritten greetings across all seasons of the year (see, I’m looking less punctuationally deviant already).

Shout Out Emmy Lu

As you may recall from Friday’s thank-you-to-our-sponsors post, Emmy Lu Design Studio is an awesome source for beautiful custom stationery with a DIY twist. Once you pick the style and fill in the custom details (whether it be a holiday card, personal stationery, an invitation or even a baby announcement) Emmy Lu hooks you up with a ready-to-print PDF. That means you can print as many as you want (whether you need five or five million), on any paper you want (bargain or mega-fancy-pants), for as long as you want (the file’s yours for eternity). Kinda genius, no?

Emmylu Giveaway

And since it’s nearly impossible to pick your favorite design, this week’s winner is getting a year’s worth of them! That means a new card/invite/announcement of the winner’s choosing for every month of the year (which loosely translates to 12 excuses to throw a party, pen a thank you note or even write your mom a letter for crying out loud).

So here’s how you can get your hands on these greetings by the dozen:

  • PRIZE: One custom Emmy Lu design per month (of $50 or less) for an entire year (that’s up to a $600 value!)
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “EMMY ME” and…
  • BONUS QUESTION: …tell us what you do to send seasonal greetings. Do you pose for a traditional family Christmas card? Or something quirkier (like photoshopping your chihuahua)? Maybe you abstain from the madness completely?
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, December 9th at 8pm EST
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
  • PRIZE SHIPS: Anywhere in the world!
  • USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday. Good luck!

    EMMY ME!!

We try and get cards out every year, but due to the fact that none of us are ever around at the same time, it has turned into a collage-esk, boys and girls type card. But I love getting them!

EMMY ME! I can’t wait to have a family and get to send out my own Christmas cards…I think I will go for the unconventional, fun poses. Those are the most memorable, in my opinion!

EMMY ME! My husband and I have been married for 4 years and every year we send out a picture of us. You can tell we are DINKS because it’s a picture from our travels. This year we are sending one from Tuscany, where we traveled last June. Sooner or later the pics will be filled with kiddos so we might as well live it up now! People usually like to see where we have gone.

I make holiday phone calls, and try to talk to as many friends and family as possible. If they ask, I’ll send a photo card, if they aren’t home, I’ll leave a message and then send a card. Friends overseas I send cards, and just to make sure everyone is covered, I send out a blanket email!

We don’t usually send out Christmas cards but this year will be different: We just got engaged and want to use Christmas as the perfect time to send out Save the Dates! We just got engagement pictures taken and can’t wait to come up with some cute cards to send everyone as we plan our exciting day!

EMMY ME! Totally stay out of it completely…BUT…since this year is our first with a little one year old, I think it’s time to whip out the pen and paper, or, as the case may be, the computer keyboard, and write a year-in-review family newsletter kinda thing. Why not! We’re parents and we have a little one to boast about! :)

    EMMY ME!

Actually – we’re one in the same – since I got married last year we started the new tradition of sending xmas cards that featured our Dachshund on the front. (funny caption and “full” family photo on the inside). This year Ammo the Dachshund will be appearing on the front again. Last year he was on santa’s lap (which you could barely make him out because we was only a couple weeks old and super tiny). This year he’s much bigger and we’ll have to decide which one to photoshop because we have so many good ones!

    EMMY ME! pretty please.

As for cards, they are always handmade or designed since I am a graphic designer (my family would disown me, seriously, if I sent out store bought ones). Anyway, we have a 2 1/2 year old and the first two years we had to do our own creative photoshopping.

Year 1: Gabi would not look at the camera, so we have a collection of pointing and open mouths. We found one where we looked good together and photoshopped Gabi’s ‘good pose’ head onto that shot. Fooled everyone.

Year 2: Had the auto timer set up again, but Gabi was enthralled with Daddy as he came back toward us to get in the shot. Again, no shots with Gabi facing forward. So we took one shot with me holding her and another with he hubs alone with his arm up in the air as if it was ‘around me’ and I photoshopped him in with us – behind us and in front of the tree. Fun times! No one knew again!

Year 3: We’ll see what this year has in store for us. Our family photo is scheduled for the photo shoot here later in the week. By us. Photoshopped by me, I’m sure ;)

Emmy Me, please! Our tradition: I take pictures of my girls at Thanksgiving, but this year, a bunch of lousy ones (too windy, too squinty eyes, goofy grins, goofy posture, goofy location – not a good one in the bunch), so need to try again when the big girls get back from college. And I send out a Christmas letter w/ the picture, because even though Dear Abby poo poos Christmas letters, I love hearing about what is going on w/ our friends! Lots of changes in 25 years of marriage. And this year….Yikes, it is already the 7th and I am soooo far behind. Maybe a January letter? Certainly I can get one done before a Valentine letter is needed? I hope. Thanks much!
