Fab Freebie: Olympic Color

***This giveaway is no longer accepting entries***

Paint a smile on your faces people, because that’s what we’re giving away this week! Paint, that is, not smiles (though hopefully smiles sort of come along with getting a prize, right?). This week we’re giving away a room full of paint from Olympic (that means 2 gallons of Olympic Premium Interior Paint and 1 gallon of primer) to THREE people. Woo hoo! We love this stuff because now no matter what color you get mixed, it’s still 100% VOC-free. Can’t beat that, right? And that’s exactly why we used it in our bathroom remodel earlier this year. Plus, Olympic just launched a new, free desktop application called ColorClix to help inspire your perfect palette.

Olympic ColorClix

Once downloaded, the little ColorClix box invites you to click anywhere on your desktop – a photo, a video, an icon, whatever – and syncs that color with one in the Olympic catalog. Like if I wanted to build a room around the adorable picture of a snoozing chihuahua I’d just have to click anywhere on his fur to get an Olympic paint color (apparently Burger’s eyebrow is “Stony Creek”). It also displays the rest of the colors on the virtual swatch as well as recommended complimentary colors.

Olympic Burgers Palette

The program also lets you save all of your inspiration colors in projects sorted by room and then you can use those saved projects to virtually paint rooms on Olympic.com. You know, if you really wanted to go as far as to let your dog’s coloring determine the coloring of your walls.

Olympic Mock Bedroom

So go have some fun playing with ColorClix and check out the rest of this week’s details:

  • PRIZE: One room of paint from Olympic, including 2 gallons of Olympic Premium Interior Paint and 1 gallon of primer
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “PAINT ME” and…
  • BONUS QUESTION: … tell us about a photo, object, or other inspiration item that you’d love to draw some paint palette inspiration from. Did you photograph a stunning landscape recently that could lend itself to an accent wall color? Have you spotted a vase or pillow at the store that could inspire a whole room?
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, September 8th at 8pm EST
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: Three
  • PRIZE SHIPS: The United States
  • USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winners will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday. Good luck…

See our Giveaway FAQs page for more info. Pics from Olympic Paints.

This weekend, I headed down the shore and watched a sunrise over the ocean for the first time! It was spectacular — the sky brightened up very quickly and then, suddenly; the sun!
I would use the neutral colors from the sand and sky, mixed with some pops of sunny colors!

PAINT ME! I just picked up a sham with various aqua and green flowers on it. Though it won’t directly be used in my son’s room, the colors are just what I wanted to use in his room, along with a paint technique inspired by the inside cover of one of his favorite books (“Little Pea” by Amy Krouse Rosenthal) to use on some accented areas (probably framed by molding to create places to hang his art). We’ve lived in an apartment since he was born, and we’re moving into our first house at the turn of the year, so I can’t wait to give him a fun and decorated room since he never had a nursery of his own!

The best inspiration I have for painting is the boring old colors on my walls! Anything would be better than what I’ve got now. I did use a quilt with corals, red and greens to inspire my bedroom paint palette, but that was years agao and I REALLY want something new, I’m tired of it. So, please paint me!

There is one photo that I have of a blue/gray stone wall that I would like to use as inspiration for our office. This would be the perfect way to do it!

    Peignez-moi!
    (Translation: ‘Paint Me! — frenchified.)

My inspiration? I love Van Gogh’s, “Vase with Twelve Sunflowers” painted during his stay in Arles, France… so I was think of doing a “color homage” of sorts to his ubiquitous painting.

Picture the painting’s dreamy blue-ground background on the bedroom’s walls, textiles in yellow-gold and cholocolate, with accessories in grassy green.

    Très belle, n’est-ce pas?
    ;-)

This is such an excellent freebie! I just finished painting my girls’ room and bathroom, and am going to start the rest of the house (yes the WHOLE house, including the ceiling AND fireplaces) next weekend! I’d love some free paint to compliment the artwork above the fireplace- painted by a great friend.
