Fab Freebie: More Than Words

***This giveaway is no longer accepting entries – see who won below (along with some sweet discounts)!***

Before we announce our winners, let’s first get to two consolation prizes: discounts! Get 15% off your WordGarden order with code YoungHouseLove15 and get 15% off of your Everywhere We Look order with code YHL15.

As for our two winners, random.org has selected… Leah (who “definitely” loves typographic art) and Rebecca A. (who loves books and typographic art – which seemed to be a trend). Congrats ladies!

This week’s pair of prizes (for a pair of winners, no less) come from two Etsy sellers who have a way with words. Namely, they turn the written word into stylish pieces for your home. The first of which, WordGarden, takes text and graphics to give simple pillows a chic European flair – from bicycles and birdcages to his and hers sets. And two of you will be scoring a pair of pillows in any size and any design.

Word Garden Pillows

The other half of this week’s prize comes from Everywhere We Look, who creates book page wreaths that could be right out of Anthropologie. And each of this week’s winners will get a large-sized wreath (i.e over 250 pages turned into a 21″ wreath) that’s custom made just for them.

Everywhere We Look Wreath

  • PRIZE: Two pillows of any size from WordGarden and a large custom wreath from Everywhere We Look
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “WORD ME!” and…
  • BONUS QUESTION: … tell us what form you particularly love seeing words take? Are you a sucker for typographic art (like me)? Have you never met a funny t-shirt or bumper sticker that you didn’t like? Do song lyrics do it for you? Or are you a traditionalist and simply love words in books, poems, and love notes?
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, July 20th at 8pm EST
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: Two
  • PRIZE SHIPS: The United States and Canada
  • USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winners will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday morning for the announcement of our winner. Good luck…

Note: We weren’t paid or perk’d for hosting this giveaway, we just take them on to reward our lovely readers! See our Giveaway FAQs page for more info. Pics from WordGarden and Everywhere We Look.

“Word Me!” I love seeing my dad’s hand written notes that he wrote to himself, now that he is no longer with us. Makes me smile.

    word me!

I like to see words displayed through nature – writing in sand, a branch that looks like a letter. Lately, I’ve enjoyed writing on rocks and I have put them in my pot of sweet basil as herb markers. I love the idea of little notes everywhere in unexpected ways and places.

I’m a typographic art fiend as well and have a soft spot for anything printed with a letter! My latest purchase was a “Home is LAX” print for my always-traveling sister. Thank you!

I’m definitely the traditionalist. But, so is my fiancé (who happens to be an English major). We love words in books, in poetry, just seeing the words written down and feeling how they are part of the paper is magic for us.

I love song lyrics. The songs I listen to either have to have no lyrics or discernible lyrics, but if I can’t understand what a singer is saying, I won’t listen to their song!

Books! It is especially sad to think about books on the day Borders announced it is closing down, completely. I wonder if my own kids will feel the need to carry around a paperback book or wait in line at a bookstore to purchase a newly released book. Wait, these will be my kids, so YES!

I love how words look when they’re mixed with art – for example, in a scrapbook or strategically stenciled on a wall. And if they’re in french or spanish or another romantic language that’s even better!!

I particularly love seeing words take the joke form.

I am an absolute sucker for typographic art.

I own a few funny t-shirts and not many bumper stickers although I do enjoy reading them.

I’m a traditionalist and mostly love words in books, poems, and the also in New York Times Op Ed section.

I love fonts like you Sherry. Actually when I’m crafting a document, I get distracted by choosing the font, color, etc before I am even done typing. I have to remind myself that I need to get the text on the page first before I can make it pretty.
