Fab Freebie: More Than Words

***This giveaway is no longer accepting entries – see who won below (along with some sweet discounts)!***

Before we announce our winners, let’s first get to two consolation prizes: discounts! Get 15% off your WordGarden order with code YoungHouseLove15 and get 15% off of your Everywhere We Look order with code YHL15.

As for our two winners, random.org has selected… Leah (who “definitely” loves typographic art) and Rebecca A. (who loves books and typographic art – which seemed to be a trend). Congrats ladies!

This week’s pair of prizes (for a pair of winners, no less) come from two Etsy sellers who have a way with words. Namely, they turn the written word into stylish pieces for your home. The first of which, WordGarden, takes text and graphics to give simple pillows a chic European flair – from bicycles and birdcages to his and hers sets. And two of you will be scoring a pair of pillows in any size and any design.

Word Garden Pillows

The other half of this week’s prize comes from Everywhere We Look, who creates book page wreaths that could be right out of Anthropologie. And each of this week’s winners will get a large-sized wreath (i.e over 250 pages turned into a 21″ wreath) that’s custom made just for them.

Everywhere We Look Wreath

  • PRIZE: Two pillows of any size from WordGarden and a large custom wreath from Everywhere We Look
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “WORD ME!” and…
  • BONUS QUESTION: … tell us what form you particularly love seeing words take? Are you a sucker for typographic art (like me)? Have you never met a funny t-shirt or bumper sticker that you didn’t like? Do song lyrics do it for you? Or are you a traditionalist and simply love words in books, poems, and love notes?
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, July 20th at 8pm EST
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: Two
  • PRIZE SHIPS: The United States and Canada
  • USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winners will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday morning for the announcement of our winner. Good luck…

Note: We weren’t paid or perk’d for hosting this giveaway, we just take them on to reward our lovely readers! See our Giveaway FAQs page for more info. Pics from WordGarden and Everywhere We Look.

    Word me!

My husband used to be my next door neighbor. When we were dating I left him a love note on his car. I loved seeing his surprise when he found the note.

I enjoy your design and DIY ideas, very inspiring!

I find like the wording on some kids t-shirts that are funny. My son had a shirt when he was 2 that said “I want to rock”. It made me laugh everytime.

WORD ME! The printed word is my bread and butter (literally, since I’m a newspaper designer), but I love when the written word or letters are used in usual ways. Like an Etsy print I saw where a scene from Alice in Wonderland was painted on a page from a vintage copy of the book. And whenever I see magnetic poetry on a fridge, I am hooked for hours.

I love to see words used in decorating. Often we hope to convey a message through colour palettes and textures; but nothing beats coming right out and saying it! Seeing a word being incorporated into design takes the questioning out of what you are trying to do with the space.

i love words that remind me of funny, sweet, crazy or romantic memories with my hubs. like “carribean massage” reminds us of this massage i got on vacation—that was done by the spa receptionist and felt like she was gently rubbing in sunscreen (huh, maybe that’s all she was doing?) any time we’re helping each other put on sunscreen we say, in a jamaican accent, “you like carribean massage??”
