Scoutmob is a lot of things (flash deals, events calendar, online flea market…) but through it all there’s a charming emphasis on local. This week they’re inviting two of you to spend $200 in their Shoppe, a curated collection of independent artisans and makers who often weave hometown pride into their work. There’s tons of cheery, clever, and skillful stuff to discover, and you can browse by category or even by city. You know, if you wanna see just what your neighbors are making these days.

I just bought a painted portrait of Albert Einstein, created by a developmentally disabled and wonderfully creative gent who lives near my office. Albert’s pinky is jutting out because (according to the artist) he’s a gentleman! I love it!

MOB ME! I’m all about supporting local, and luckily we have a few good craft fairs each year. Most recently we commissioned one of the recently trendy house rules posters. INstead of buying one from somewhere, we were able to hire a friend of ours and now we have an awesome hand-painted, customized house rules canvas! :D We also roast our own gourmet coffee and sell locally!
