Fab Freebie: Home For Z Holidays

***This giveaway is no longer accepting entries***

Just as Holly guessed during last week’s winner post, our latest giveaway is indeed from our friends at Z Gallerie. They’re back after their much loved freebie last May to put a little sparkle in your holiday season. While the big Zee-G has tons of glittery items for your house, your tree and even your dining table, we somehow managed to comb through all the eye candy and pick out a collection of our absolute favorite holiday items. So here’s what this week’s winner will be snagging:

Z Gallerie Holiday Prizes

The Z Gallerie holiday prize pack includes: two ribbed Antique Mercury Votive Cups, a silver Antique Mercury Hurricane and a set of four Puccini Hiball glasses. We love them because not only do they provide a touch of holiday glam to a dining or console table, you can even get away with breaking them out during the other 11 months of the year. And if they look familiar it’s because Z Gallerie kindly sent a set our way (and we whipped them out for this Thanksgiving decor post a few weeks back).

Z Gallerie Our House

So how do you get your hands on this sparkly set of holiday cheer? Here’s the 4-1-1:

  • PRIZE: Two ribbed Antique Mercury Votive Cups, a silver Antique Mercury Hurricane and a set of four Puccini Hiball glasses from Z Gallerie
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “Z ME!” and…
  • BONUS QUESTION: …tell us if you plan to entertain people at your home this holiday season OR if you prefer to be entertained at someone else’s house. And either way, do you have any tips for being a great host and/or courteous guest?
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, December 2nd at 8pm EST
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
  • PRIZE SHIPS: United States only
  • USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday. Good luck!

I am letting my mom do all of the hosting this year, even though I would love to. But we are expecting our little one inthe next few days and there is no way I could/would be a good hostess.

We don’t get to entertain much for the holidays since it seems we are always at a family members. Being younger members of our families it is hard to snag a holiday to entertain since there are already traditions set.

We live in a 350 sq ft studio in Brooklyn, so entertaining is unfortunately a little difficult to do if the party goes over about 3 guests…I’ll be headed home to Richmond for Christmas where my parents house is constantly filled with friends, family and christmas carols.

I love entertaining – I usually have friends over once a week for a very super casual dinner (generally make-your-own tacos or two lasagnas or something), so most of my entertaining is just focused on having a clean apartment, and making sure the food is ready! I am looking forward to throwing a small holiday party this year though – I definitely want to try out some yummy Christmas treats, and hopefully decorate a little more then I have in the past!

We are hosting a Hanukkah /Festivus /Christmas gathering at our house for all of our friends. A lot of them have never experienced Hanukkah and we can’t wait to serve them up some delicious brisket and latkes. We have been struggling to come up with an idea for decorating that doesn’t overwhelm our guests. The items from Z are great in that they seem to holiday neutral; you could bust ‘em out for any special gathering.

We still go to my grandmother’s house Christmas Eve and then to my parent’s house Christmas Day. One of these days we really want to host Christmas because we love entertaining! Tips for entertaining, make sure there are enough seats for everyone coming, serve drinks and snacks before dinner to keep everyone happy, have a place for coats and purses, and my number 1 item is to make sure the house is set at a comfortable temperature and you account for all the extra people. We went to a friends house last year who always keeps her thermostat at 80, but with 25 people in her house, it was unbarebly hot! We left after 45 minutes because we were sweating in our dress clothes.

2 things I always have as host: (1) enough ice and (2) a clean kitchen sink. My aunt always told me that after setting up for party, the last thing to do is wipe down the kitchen sink, because nobody wants to eat out of a kitchen that has a gross sink. So true.

My mom lives out of town so we will be going to see her the weekend before Christmas. This will be a hard one since we lost my dad VERY unexpected on New Years Eve of 2008. Hopefully we can all pull on each others strength to make it a special weekend. Then Chrismas Eve is church and go home to get in Christmas PJ’s for Christmas Vacation! The kids love to do this. Then Christmas day we usually stay in pj’s watch movies, play games, and have a crawfish boil. It’s just the 4 of us (me, hubby, 2 teens!)! Since we started this we have a blast and our twerps look so forward it. We got so tired of the run here, run there routine and felt like we totally missed celbrating the birth of Jesus and enjoying time with our twerps.

We always spend Christmas with my family in Pennsylvania, but usually try and have a little shindig at our place in Brooklyn early in December as well. It’s nice to have something a little earlier in the month when people aren’t too bogged down with last-minute shopping and traveling.

I enjoy entertaining and decorating. Get this, we are moving the 19th into a bigger home out in the country. It needs paint, we are painting the kitchen cupboards, changing out some countertops, and decorating big time, all before we have a new years party. :) hahaha! It’s going to be crazy! and I’m going to blog it all!

As far as holiday plans go? Well, we just spent an extended Thanksgiving with family, because we will not be able to make the trip up for Christmas. It looks like it will just be the husband and the dogs this year! We haven’t ruled out getting together with some friends, but we aren’t going to be doing anything crazy over the top:)

We will have Christmas eve at my sister-in-law’s house and then spend Christmas Day with my parents. I’m hoping to have an open house sometime!!! One of my best holiday ideas is to let everyone sample several types or beer and or wine! I then give them little notebooks to write everything down in (because we know how we all forget when we actually go to buy some!!)
