Fab Freebie: Home For Z Holidays

***This giveaway is no longer accepting entries***

Just as Holly guessed during last week’s winner post, our latest giveaway is indeed from our friends at Z Gallerie. They’re back after their much loved freebie last May to put a little sparkle in your holiday season. While the big Zee-G has tons of glittery items for your house, your tree and even your dining table, we somehow managed to comb through all the eye candy and pick out a collection of our absolute favorite holiday items. So here’s what this week’s winner will be snagging:

Z Gallerie Holiday Prizes

The Z Gallerie holiday prize pack includes: two ribbed Antique Mercury Votive Cups, a silver Antique Mercury Hurricane and a set of four Puccini Hiball glasses. We love them because not only do they provide a touch of holiday glam to a dining or console table, you can even get away with breaking them out during the other 11 months of the year. And if they look familiar it’s because Z Gallerie kindly sent a set our way (and we whipped them out for this Thanksgiving decor post a few weeks back).

Z Gallerie Our House

So how do you get your hands on this sparkly set of holiday cheer? Here’s the 4-1-1:

  • PRIZE: Two ribbed Antique Mercury Votive Cups, a silver Antique Mercury Hurricane and a set of four Puccini Hiball glasses from Z Gallerie
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “Z ME!” and…
  • BONUS QUESTION: …tell us if you plan to entertain people at your home this holiday season OR if you prefer to be entertained at someone else’s house. And either way, do you have any tips for being a great host and/or courteous guest?
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, December 2nd at 8pm EST
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
  • PRIZE SHIPS: United States only
  • USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday. Good luck!

I probably won’t be doing much entertaining this holiday since our home is very, very small, but I’ll make plenty of appetizers to take to our friends’ houses! Like my mom always taught me, never go to a holiday party empty-handed :)

This year we are visiting family out of state and I’m so excited to be a guest! Since we won’t be home for Christmas, hubby and I don’t plan on buying a tree or doing much decorating. But maybe seeing what you have planned on YHL for holiday decorating will inspire me and change my mind :o) Teehee.

Hubby & I live in a small apartment, so we prefer to be the guests instead of the hosts! That way we don’t have to worry about cars & noise bugging the neighbors.

My main focus when I have people over is to have a variety of food layed out and waiting for them, including a main table of food plus some additional snack-y items scattered around where they’ll be congregating. That, and enough seating for everyone. We have been invited to a few other Christmas parties this year, but we’re going to have my family over for dinner on Christmas Day so that we can all enjoy the first Christmas in our new house! I’ll have plenty of cookies and snacks prepared by Christmas Eve and plan to arrange them as part of the decorations all around the living room and dining room so everyone can snack to their heart’s content, before and after dinner!

I love Z Gallerie! We don’t have one where I live (Chattanooga, TN), but we just got back from a trip to California where we shopped at two different Z Gallerie’s. We bought the white Elk head to hang above our bed in our master bedroom!! It’s our Christmas present to each other!

I love to entertain- and the best way to be a good hostess is to keep a cold drink in your guest’s hands at all times!

We’re heading to my parents house this year for Christmas. This will be the first time in 5 years we have not hosted Christmas. My tip for being a good out of town guest–let the hostess know when you’ll be arriving and when you’ll be leaving! It is unnerving to not know exactly which day guests will arrive for the holidays and how long you’ll have to play hostess.

I hosted my dad at my house for Thanksgiving this year, but we ate the actual meal elsewhere. And I’ll be hosted for Christmas this year as well. My favorite hosting thing to do is to put together an “amenities basket” for my guest room – travel size shampoo/conditioner, deodorant, tylenol, nail clippers, loofah, soap, lotion, etc. for guests that forgot an item or two. Extra luxe touch: lavender linen spray for the guest room sheets!

As a guest to other people’s homes we always inquire if we can bring something to the meal or event. Be it food or drinks, we always offer of ourselves first.

We’ll probably be doing the smallest amount of entertaining this year, meaning any friends that are around during the next month+, they’ll be invited over. Most of them haven’t seen the new house, and what better excuse to clean and get the place viewer-ready than the holidays?

Otherwise, we’re going to various family members’ houses. The best hosts/hostesses make you feel comfortable and warm. Their homes feel like a home away from your own. My uncle’s a priest, and we annually go to the “rectory” for post-Christmas family get-together. He has a way of making us all feel so special, using all of his nicest Waterford crystal and Wedgewood china, even when serving simple dishes.

My husband and I have a tiny 1 bedroom apartment, so entertaining is going to be interesting. We don’t have much planned, except for hosting a Mary Kay party for a friend and having my parents over to celebrate Christmas.

One of my friends let me stay at her apartment while she and her husband were gone for Christmas. (I was between apartments at the time.) She left me a sweet Christmas card, a snowman mug with candy, a holiday hand towel, and a Santa Christmas bag. It was her way of reminding me that she cared, even if she wasn’t there with me.

We will be having our families over before Christmas this year, but it will be to celebrate my husband’s and daughter’s birthdays which fall a week before x-mas. I love decorating my house for the holidays, but I honestly this year would rather be entertained at someone elses. I have classes until the 23rd this year which has put a damper on my Christmas spirit. :(

We had guests for our first every Thanksgiving at our house. My little family usually goes to my parents, but this year we decided to stay home.

For Christmas we ALWAYS stay home on the actual holiday and generally do it by ourselves, although any one is welcome. How would Santa find us, if we weren’t home???

I will not be entertaining guests in my home this Christmas, but I love for my house to look like I am! And the best way to be a grateful guest during the holiday season is to help with the dishes. But even more importantly, be grateful for your family members and practice reconciliation instead of stirring the pot. Merry Christmas to all!

We generally wait and do our holiday entertaining after the hoopla has died down a bit, in early January. Everybody is so busy and overbooked in December, so it’s easier to get our friends all together at once a little later. We put out chili and all the fixings and everybody kind of takes it easy together.
