Fab Freebie: Home For Z Holidays

***This giveaway is no longer accepting entries***

Just as Holly guessed during last week’s winner post, our latest giveaway is indeed from our friends at Z Gallerie. They’re back after their much loved freebie last May to put a little sparkle in your holiday season. While the big Zee-G has tons of glittery items for your house, your tree and even your dining table, we somehow managed to comb through all the eye candy and pick out a collection of our absolute favorite holiday items. So here’s what this week’s winner will be snagging:

Z Gallerie Holiday Prizes

The Z Gallerie holiday prize pack includes: two ribbed Antique Mercury Votive Cups, a silver Antique Mercury Hurricane and a set of four Puccini Hiball glasses. We love them because not only do they provide a touch of holiday glam to a dining or console table, you can even get away with breaking them out during the other 11 months of the year. And if they look familiar it’s because Z Gallerie kindly sent a set our way (and we whipped them out for this Thanksgiving decor post a few weeks back).

Z Gallerie Our House

So how do you get your hands on this sparkly set of holiday cheer? Here’s the 4-1-1:

  • PRIZE: Two ribbed Antique Mercury Votive Cups, a silver Antique Mercury Hurricane and a set of four Puccini Hiball glasses from Z Gallerie
  • TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “Z ME!” and…
  • BONUS QUESTION: …tell us if you plan to entertain people at your home this holiday season OR if you prefer to be entertained at someone else’s house. And either way, do you have any tips for being a great host and/or courteous guest?
  • GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, December 2nd at 8pm EST
  • NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
  • PRIZE SHIPS: United States only
  • USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday. Good luck!

Z ME! We have close friends come over, but the major family entertaining is still done at my grandma’s house.

I prefer to entertain. I like to have plenty of finger foods to snack on and plenty of drinks. This is actually our first year hosting so it’s pretty exciting but scary at the same time.

I will be hosting Christmas this year. I’ve been picking up decorations, games, etc at thrift stores to make it easy on myself–no holiday rush at the retail stores!

I love entertaining, and this year it is our first year of taking over a “grown up” holiday-Christmas dinner! I love making sure everyone is comfortable, and that any party I have encourages mingling. I have “snack spots” set up in various places, as well as chairs and other seating set up all around the room. I like to pick out music to go with my parties too!

Z Me. We will be hosting my husband’s family for Christmas dinner and then possibly my parents and grandparents will join us later. We’re hoping some friends will be able to stop by as well. I’m a little nervous but very excited to be the hostess this year. Its our first Christmas as a married couple and the first Christmas in our new house.

I think the best way to be a good hostess is to put yourself in your guests shoes (well, not literally!)in order to understand what they’ll want -then try to meet those needs. On the flip side, never arrive at a party empty handed.

    Z-ME!

We’re hosting a Christmas cookie baking party in a few weeks that will also be our housewarming. We’ll have our friends over, make use of our new double-ovens, and take then on a tour of our very own first house in between batches of gingerbread men and Mexican wedding cookies. We’ll have board games and Christmas movies on for the less baking-inclined!

I’ve learned as a young hostess that helps to do a walk through of the house before guests come over and imagine yourself in their shoes. Start at the front door and ask yourself, “is it obvious where I can get a napkin for snacks?” “Are there enough comfy seats?” “Any funny smells?” “Is there enough toilet paper?” “Is it obvious where I can stash my luggage?” “Would I get bored if I have to hang out by myself for a while?” Sometimes I’m so absorbed cleaning before guests arrive that I forget the obvious, like towels in the bathroom! So this walk-through helps.

And, as always, I think being a good hostess means making people feel as comfortable in your house as they do in theirs, no matter what. Comfortable and well-fed!

Z Me! My husband and I love to entertain so hopefully there will be several opportunities this season to do so. My best suggestion is to plan your menu so that you aren’t tied to the stove as your guests are arriving and milling around. Having everything ready to go and choosing recipes that don’t take a lot of last minute prep will do a lot to make you present at your party and not just excellent chef behind the scenes.

Normally i like going to other’s homes for holiday celebrations, but this year I am so excited to entertain in my new place! I just moved into a 1927 church-turned-house, and with 3,500 sg ft of exposed brick and painted cement floors, there is plenty of space for a party!

My #1 priority in entertaining is a sparkling bathroom! Your home can feel “lived in,” but there is nothing to let a guest know you care about their comfort like a freshly cleaned bathroom. : )

Z ME!!! We will have a holiday party at our house, but my inlaws host up in NY every year. Their italian and go all out with food and wine so it’s a lot of fun and less stressfull than hosting yourself. BUt since my hubby inherited his mom’s knack for hosting we do a lot ourselves as well. My tip would be to not be late esp when food is involved, and don’t overstay your welcome. Hosting is exhausting stuff :-)

I like to do both! I like to entertain because it gives me an excuse to spend my days cooking and decorating and I just love having people over! No matter what – I think that the BEST hosts/hostesses aren’t necessarily the ones that have great decor (although, I must say I LOVE me some prettiness), I think that they’re the ones that make the guests feel like they’re at home – like they’re so comfy that they wait to leave late!

We love going to just about any party or get together we can, but we also love entertaining. We come up with different ideas that keep things fun. Like this year is the “Bad Sweater Party”. You have to wear your worst holiday sweater and bring a traditional holiday food, like eggnog, or fruitcake! :)
