Fab Freebie: From Our House To Yours

*** This giveaway is no longer accepting entries ***

This giveaway can be summed up in two words (well, one’s technically just a letter): Z Gallerie.

The fine people at the big Z.G. have been very good to us (you may remember the kind birthday present they recently sent Sherry), and now they’re about to be very good to one of you. They’ve graciously offered up not one, not two, not even just three, but FOUR pieces of their collection to one lucky reader. And we can personally vouch for each item because (here’s our favorite part) they’re all accessories that we’ve purchased for our own home. Yep, consider it your own little Young House Love starter kit of sorts. It includes:

The Large Atlantis Clam Shell (which we use as a fruit bowl in our kitchen, priced at $45)…

Img 3365

…Sherry’s cherished white Ceramic Rhino (priced at $25)…

Rhino From Zgallerie Cerami

…and two, count ’em two, Lucerne Sconces (totalling $80):

Candle Sconce Detail

That’s $150 worth of our favorite items from Z Gallerie. We had to buy ’em all (actually, I think every single one was a birthday present for Sherry at some point) but one of you is going to get them all on the house. To enter just comment on this post with the words “FROM YOUR HOUSE TO MINE!” by Wednesday, May 6th at 8pm EST. And while you’re there, we’d love to hear what you might consider a “signature item” in your home. Maybe something that you think is “so you” or that your friends would say is perfectly representative of your style. This giveaway is only open to US residents and only one entry per e-mail address is permitted. We’ll announce the randomly selected winner on Thursday. Good luck…

Oh, and is anyone surprised that all of the items are white? Didn’t think so…

Wow – what a fab response you’ve received! We love the Z! I guess my signature item would be fresh flowers on the dining room table. Like you guys, I try to keep them around most of the time because they do so much to brighten a room. Have a great week!

FROM YOUR HOUSE TO MINE! Our signature pieces include our dala horse collection and welcome sign. These travel with us wherever we move and celebrate my husband and mine’s combined Swedish heritage. We want our children to know about their past and be proud of the country of our ancestors.

My husband is an artist, so having his work on the walls is important to us, but we do have a number of mid-century pieces. A great black fruit bowl, a collection glass coffee carafes. A big stinky dog.

We have lots of things that are very representative of us, but I think our eclectic mix of cool accessories mixed with silly things like wooden brainteasers in a bowl on the coffee table or the oil painting my husband made when he was younger of his childhood best friend (Curious George) we have in our dining room.

FROM YOUR HOUSE TO MINE! :) Yipes – this is the first freebie giveaway I’ve entered!! lol But I’m absolutely in LOVE w/everything that ZGallerie sells!! As for my signature piece here at home… I would have to say is this cream and sugar set that was given to my husband and I as a wedding gift. The history behind them is what makes them so special tho… My great-grandfather traveled all over the world (he was a professor) and went to India… and while there, he found this jewlry/silver maker and asked him to make him this set in which the entire design of them is out of intricate hearts (ALL OUT OF SILVER!!!) – and had them made for my great-grandmother. The set is ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL and very close to my heart. They are definitely the prized posession here! <3 xo

My signature thing is a swirl or wave of some kind. There’s something in every room – in a curtain, wall art, sconce, candle holder, picture frame, etc.

    FROM YOUR HOUSE TO MINE!

My signature pieces are my collection of glass and crystal candlesticks. I love arranging a group of them using simple white emergency candles. It creates instant drama and sets the mood in the room to be either cozy or romantic.

Here is one grouping from last year:

    Another perspective:

And, finally, I firmly believe that EVERYONE looks better by candlelight. ;)

(Note: A few of these shown (the most unique or expensive, of course) were shattered in the great Dresser Toppling Over event of late 2008. My heart was broken because each piece was chosen so carefully. I am finally starting to find a few new pieces to put with my collection to get over the ones I lost.)

As for signature piece, I’d say mirrors. I have mirrors in every room of my house. We have very little natural light and they really help to make the house seem brighter. :)

I simply ADORE that rhino! *Crosses fingers, toes, and eyes*

I think that my signature piece is a statue of an organ grinder’s monkey. He’s sitting back on his haunches with his front paws extended and the little fellow even has a fez on his head. I think he captures our more whimsical, fun loving side. Now if I can just get my paws on that rhino! I’d love to add him to our menagerie!

Sadly, I don’t think we have a signature item — certainly signature colors. Every single room is painted a rich, saturated color, and that’s probably the most distinctive feature of our place.
