Fab Freebie: From Our House To Yours

*** This giveaway is no longer accepting entries ***

This giveaway can be summed up in two words (well, one’s technically just a letter): Z Gallerie.

The fine people at the big Z.G. have been very good to us (you may remember the kind birthday present they recently sent Sherry), and now they’re about to be very good to one of you. They’ve graciously offered up not one, not two, not even just three, but FOUR pieces of their collection to one lucky reader. And we can personally vouch for each item because (here’s our favorite part) they’re all accessories that we’ve purchased for our own home. Yep, consider it your own little Young House Love starter kit of sorts. It includes:

The Large Atlantis Clam Shell (which we use as a fruit bowl in our kitchen, priced at $45)…

Img 3365

…Sherry’s cherished white Ceramic Rhino (priced at $25)…

Rhino From Zgallerie Cerami

…and two, count ’em two, Lucerne Sconces (totalling $80):

Candle Sconce Detail

That’s $150 worth of our favorite items from Z Gallerie. We had to buy ’em all (actually, I think every single one was a birthday present for Sherry at some point) but one of you is going to get them all on the house. To enter just comment on this post with the words “FROM YOUR HOUSE TO MINE!” by Wednesday, May 6th at 8pm EST. And while you’re there, we’d love to hear what you might consider a “signature item” in your home. Maybe something that you think is “so you” or that your friends would say is perfectly representative of your style. This giveaway is only open to US residents and only one entry per e-mail address is permitted. We’ll announce the randomly selected winner on Thursday. Good luck…

Oh, and is anyone surprised that all of the items are white? Didn’t think so…

We just got our first “grown-up” place… I don’t have ANYTHING signature yet! All handmedowns! (but thank goodness for handmedowns!)

I have five tall wooden candlesticks that I think are indicative of my style – with three cats, a golden retriever, an old english sheepdog, and a two-year-old, I have to find pretty things that won’t break (but DON’T WORRY – I have plenty of safe places for pretty rhinos and fruit bowls!).

I don’t know that I have a signature item in my house, but definitely a signature color: turquoise! It’s become a sort of running joke with my friends and family, because almost all houseware-related presents I get these days is some shade of turquoise (which works great with these white pieces).

    FROM YOUR HOUSE TO MINE!

I have been addicted to your website going to it every day for inspiration. My husband and I just got married and are coming up on our one year anniversary. We are in the process of buying a house and fixing it up. It’s a major fixer upper so we have a ton of work ahead of us. My house will have a very tropical-eclectic feel. I have been eyeing that large shell at Z Gallerie for months now. Currently my home is filled with sand and shells we have collected on vacations. Every trip we go on, we fill a small glass bottle with sand and some shells or rocks and label the bottle with where it came from. Those are my signature items. I think the big shell would be the perfect compliment to them! Not to mention the Rhino conversation starter and those gorgeous sconces. I’m planning on doing the 2 PAX wardrobes surrounding my bed (inspired by you guys!) I think they would look so cute on each side of the bed. Please pick me! We are spending every penny we have on our down payment for our first home, and can’t afford much to “pretty-ize” it. We would be so thankful!

Our signature item would have to be…the old church pew we use as seating in our dining room. We got it from our church when they were clearing out the old nuns’ quarters. It used to be their chapel. It is still the 1950’s green stain but it goes perfectly in the room and is one of my favorite pieces.

My signature piece would have to be my “For Like Ever” poster. I know it’s a little overdone, but it was a gift from my husband on the night he proposed! I love your blog – it’s helped us so much in our own home.

From your house to mine! Our signature pieces are the photos we take (of our children, gardens,on vacations, etc). They mean so much more when there’s a story behind what we hang on our walls, plus they’re easier to replace when i get tired of them!

    FROM YOUR HOUSE TO MINE!

Signature item…hmm.. I would say my long hallway of local photographs. I live in a historic building (Civil War era) of which the ground floor was a pharmacy/soda shop until the late 70s. In the basement I found an old sign for it from the 1950s that I now have hanging in my hallway. This hallway runs the length of the entire apartment, and each room is like an offshoot from it. So the one side has the giant pharmacy sign (painted on wood) and the other is full of many different pictures of my city (the downtown area specifically) from the 1800s forward. Recent stuff is local photography by local artists. It’s definitely the signature piece of the entire place!

    “From Your House To Mine”!!

    Hello John and Sherry!
I think that one of the signature things in my home that best describes me, is an old writers desk I found a year ago. I have a hobby of fixing up furniture, it is something I love to do. But this desk was a real find and I love it! I found it at a Salvation Army for 20.00 and then sanded it and painted it. And it is still my most cherish piece of furniture in me home. You can see it here-
    http://inspiredbybelle.blogspot.com/2009/02/my-multi-functional-room.html

Your home is beautiful…wish my luck, we are starting a kitchen remodel soon!

Oh and Sherry, I sent you an email a few months back about getting rid of dust bunnies under my bed (that sounds so strange, I know) But I just wanted to say thank you very much for getting back to me, that night even! I know you and John are so busy, and I was so thankful for your reply and advise on saving my pennies and not buying a rug to catch them. Thanks!

    take it easy guys!

    From your house to mine…

My signature piece? would it be the 800 playmobil pieces artfully arranged on my son’s floor? or the stacks and stacks of books that my daughter falls asleep with every night? perhaps the baby’s omnipresent baby doll, named “Baby Tummy?” my husband’s (heinous) fleece pants which pop in various unpredictable (and unwelcome) locales? MY stacks and stacks of shelter mags, including my Dominos (sob!) which all house paper dolls. Well, who WOULDN’T want to live there? hmmmm…

our signature piece (hard to choose!!) is an antique wooden mail station from the seattle post office. my grandfather used to work there and somehow brought it home and it ended up getting passed down to me. we used it as a console piece under our flat screen. it’s funky and has lots of character. everyone notices it. it could use a lovely little rhino on it! :)

When it comes to our house my husband is very much involved in all of the decoration decisions. So one might say that our house is a reflection of both our styles… but there is one room in our house (the den) that is all me…. Curtains, wall art, sofa, chair, everything!!! It’s the only room in the house that I absolutely LOVE.

FROM YOUR HOUSE TO MINE! My signature piece isn’t very exciting. Everyone (even my fiance) makes fun of me because everything in the house is white. My friends call it the ‘white house’. Walls, bedding, etc. I want color I just can’t decide, so white it is! That’s why these Z Gallerie goodies would be so perfect for my house :)
