Fab Freebie: From Our House To Yours

*** This giveaway is no longer accepting entries ***

This giveaway can be summed up in two words (well, one’s technically just a letter): Z Gallerie.

The fine people at the big Z.G. have been very good to us (you may remember the kind birthday present they recently sent Sherry), and now they’re about to be very good to one of you. They’ve graciously offered up not one, not two, not even just three, but FOUR pieces of their collection to one lucky reader. And we can personally vouch for each item because (here’s our favorite part) they’re all accessories that we’ve purchased for our own home. Yep, consider it your own little Young House Love starter kit of sorts. It includes:

The Large Atlantis Clam Shell (which we use as a fruit bowl in our kitchen, priced at $45)…

Img 3365

…Sherry’s cherished white Ceramic Rhino (priced at $25)…

Rhino From Zgallerie Cerami

…and two, count ’em two, Lucerne Sconces (totalling $80):

Candle Sconce Detail

That’s $150 worth of our favorite items from Z Gallerie. We had to buy ’em all (actually, I think every single one was a birthday present for Sherry at some point) but one of you is going to get them all on the house. To enter just comment on this post with the words “FROM YOUR HOUSE TO MINE!” by Wednesday, May 6th at 8pm EST. And while you’re there, we’d love to hear what you might consider a “signature item” in your home. Maybe something that you think is “so you” or that your friends would say is perfectly representative of your style. This giveaway is only open to US residents and only one entry per e-mail address is permitted. We’ll announce the randomly selected winner on Thursday. Good luck…

Oh, and is anyone surprised that all of the items are white? Didn’t think so…

    “FROM YOUR HOUSE TO MINE!”

The signature piece in our home would have to be the refurbished hope chest/trunk made of cedar. It was my parents when they first got married, it lived with me throughout childhood and it is now our coffee table. It has just made it across the country for the third time in 40 something years, in our recent move to California!

    FROM YOUR HOUSE TO MINE…

Well something special in my San Antonio townhouse is from the wonderful commonwealth of Virginia. I lived in Richmond for the first 18 years of my life and all of my family is still there, so I love your blog even more because of where your young house is located. Anyways… my dad gave me this little print/notecard thing that’s framed and hangs in our house. It says: “To be a Virginian, either by birth, marriage, adoption, or even on one’s mother’s side is an introduction to any state in the union, a passport to any foreign country, and a benediction from above.” :)

FROM YOUR HOUSE TO MINE. That’s a tough one…to pick one signature item. I think my love and use of books and the arrangement of books on my very large and low coffee table is totally me. I’ve always thought that if you looked at all the items and titles of the books on that table a stranger would totally know what I’m all about. All of my latest found objects from thrift stores/flea markets make an appearance on that table.

    Great giveaway by the way!

It would really help me get my “huh” collection rolling. Just married 3 weeks ago. Not much in our home yet, the signature piece is a little paperweight version of Robert Indiana’s LOVE sculpture. It was the cake topper at our wedding and it now lives on our entertainment center.

“FROM YOUR HOUSE TO MINE!” Awesome. What most represents us in our home? I’d say a trio of photos taken by myself of the IL River (when we lived there) that hang above our bed. Serenity, nature and sky blue… that’s us.

From your house to mine! I don’t know about our “signature item”, but I will tell you that our dining room table is our favorite piece of furniture in the entire house! It is a beautifully refinished farm table that can seat up to 12 with both leaves in. We absolutely love it!

I have a lot of white in my home too, so I think that would be my signature look. Therefore, this giveaway is right up my alley!

And of course, white goes with mosaic very well. ;)

I’ve moved six time in the past six years and one of the few things that has made it through all the moves is a “hear no evil, see no evil, speak no evil” small monkey statue. I picked it up while on vacation in Florida when I was 18 and it’s moved around with me since.

    “FROM YOUR HOUSE TO MINE!”

My fiance and I just bought a house(we are getting married on the 16th!), & our offer accepted 3 days ago! I have a few things I could consider signature pieces, but I am pretty much starting my home decorating from scratch. I have a old black lacquer Chinese buffet that I found several years ago at a consignment store for a steal of a price… it’s clean lines and dark elements strike a cord with me, and would add sophistication to any room.

I’m going to say my signature item is this really great antique pop-up bar that my grandparents gave to me. It’s an art deco piece with clean, geometric lines in warm, honeyed tones. I love that it is both a family heirloom and that it is such a beautifully offbeat piece of furniture. It’s retro, but flows perfectly in a modern setting.

FROM YOUR HOUSE TO MINE! My signature item is, of course, the crooked painting of odd jungle birds my ex-uncle purchased in Botswana thirty years ago. I have yet to have a visitor who was not instantly drawn to the bright green background and the wonky-looking magical birds with their magically extended beaks and curiously shaped wings. Everyone loves that painting!

Our signature item is a framed poster we got on our honeymoon. We found a teeny tiny vineyard named with our last name and we must have bought every person in our family with something plastered with our last name. The poster, however, is our fave. It says “A little bit of history, a little bit of history in the making”, which seemed fitting since it was our honeymoon.

I’m still working on a “signature” item, as my husband and I recently purchased our house, but right now I think it’s photography, particularly from my 2003 trip to Ireland.
